Great Ready Meals?
Ask a Question
Hiya, where's everybody at on ready meals? I find that at least once a week I'm found with just myself to cook for so I want to throw something in the oven, chill, take it out, sit down, chill and eat it, no fuss, even eat it out of the tray if you're really doing it right. The only 'I can't believe it's not homecooked' ready meal that I'd rate at the moment is Asda's Chicken Hotpot, I'm disappointed with most I've tried from all of the stores, do you have a favourite you'd recommend? It's a nice part of the night off to have an easy meal but I'd really like a bit more choice. After knocking out culinary delights all week, tasty, easy, no fuss food is great.(yeah, don't judge me, my spice rack fell off the wall once!)
Give paella a go if you haven't. It's essentially meat and fish mixed together, a Spanish traditional meal. Well, to be specific it's from Valencia but it's still in Spain.
I will try this, I've not thought of paella for years, had it a few times but never done one myself, not biggest fan of fish, but I really should try to eat more, Omega 3 oils and all that jazz. Will defo give this a go...thanks
I like the Marks & Spencer Four Cheese Ravioli, which I usually pimp out with some tasty extras
I love a cheesy dish ACR, I guess you could add any veg you liked in and change it up no fuss too...

I've just shared a great deal on ready made meals from Cook. They're a bit pricier than the usual supermarket brands but so much nicer I've found. https://www.cookfood.net/menu/main-meals/4-for-14
Mmmm these look tasty too, I don't mind spending a little more if they tickle my taste buds... x
M&S do a lovely chicken chow mein. I don't buy ready meals but had this one when our son was in hospital and it was really good.
Thanks, you're all lovin the M&S stuff. I think I don't usually consider going there because I thought they were very overpriced but I suppose if a bargain's on offer like the 3 for £7 Gems mentioned above, then I'd have a try. Thanks for recommending. x
My favourite ready meal is Moussaka. Never make one myself but love the ready made ones but only have them rarely. I feel guilty if I don’t cook from scratch.
I've heard of it but never made or tried Moussaka, I'll come clean I've just Googled the ingredients, looks very nice, I do like aubergines, might try this, but now I feel guilty too, can't have my first try as a ready meal! Even I'll draw a line there lol, but I'm definitely going to make one, looks yummy, thanks Pjran. x
Pjran I intend to try some. If you don't mind sharing I'd love to hear what you think of the Sainsburys ready meals, I haven't tried any of their Taste the Difference range, only due to convenience as this store is further afield than others . But my mum often shops there so I could ask her to pick me some up if you think they're worth a try. Thanks x
I've been trying some of the Gino D'Acampo ready meals from Iceland and have to say they are really tasty with an authentic feel to them. The only thing is tasty does not equal low calorie so try but don't make a habit of it.
Lol, why's everyone so guilty with themselves. I have heard some whispers on the grapevine about Gino D' Acampo's Iceland range all good things too. I'm planning on trying them. Icelands a funny one for me, I had one of their Chicken Hotpots and I didn't rate it at all, maybe because I love the Asda one. The food and texture all fine but the flavour wasn't anywhere near as good. I do have an Iceland favourite though, their Chicken in Blackbean Sauce is lovely, I always pick a couple of those up when I'm in there. I'll be grabbing some Gino's too, if there's any left! Thanks for suggesting them angemski. x
ACES74 You are absolutely right - we tend to apologise first for the suggestion just in case the calorie police jump on us. Another one from Iceland is the King Prawn Laksa - yes it is Slimming World but you wouldn't know it! (I'm a serious seafood nut and have selective vision when calorie counting and prawns are involved)
angemski Lol, I have a similar problem with Cheese and not putting it on everything! I've not delved too much into the slimming meals lately, they used to be so bad about 10 years back but I know a lot of people who love them. I always think they'll not be as tasty but I should have a try, it would defo increase my options. Thanks. x
Ooo now they do sound nice, I'm up for a guilty pleasure, will try those, thanks jenidady. x
