Groupon Issues - Refusing to Give Refunds

In the News

Oh dear...

https://metro.co.uk/2020/05/07/groupon-refuses-give-refunds-hundreds-customers-12668100/?ito=social

Have not had or heard of anyone having issues in the past. But when things go wrong, they can go very wrong

I hope not too many people have been affected

Wow that is just so wrong , they can open dispute via PayPal or credit card chargeback , but regardless the company cancelled goods and refusing refund is just out of order 😞

Very out of order indeed. Definitely the kind of behaviour that makes them lose customers. I wouldn’t want credit instead of a refund, as I would choose not to shop with them again

they ought to be reported to trading standards. Issuing a credit instead is not acceptable

I agree. It’s going to be one of those scenarios where if enough people complain, they might have to re-evaluate

Groupon have always been dodgy anyway.

Hopefully this will finish them off.

It’s a shame as I’ve had only good experiences previously. I was told years ago that they were having financial problems, so yes, they’re probably on their way out

hspexy Yep, I wouldn't risk buying anything from the site at the moment.

Groupon is always like this. Wondering how they are running the show these many years.

I kept on talking to customer service for 20+ days and I kept saying your breaching the law and breaching the refund policy and they actually refunded me after I said that to them

That’s the way to do it. If you keep on top of them, they will usually cave in. They know they’re breaching sale conditions but obviously hiding behind the current situation to try to fob people off

I've always said Groupon are a bunch of robbing gits but does anybody listen to me on here? No. I get told not to be negative and be nice while people post away with Groupon's crap deals and everybody just comments underneath saying how lovely everything is. I despair.

It was so stressful getting a refund from Groupon but keep telling them about these laws which are there for consumers they will definitely scare the company

Yes if you quote the consumer act, and insist that you will be reporting them, that usually gets them to respond. They only feel the pressure if you give it to them. But I agree, it can be very stressful, but know that you’re doing the right thing and you are pushing so that others may have a path to follow

hspexy thanks im trying to help other people in this difficult situation and i know that Groupon cs always try and avoid what your saying to them and just keep calm and try and get to different Groupon representatives as some people don't even know what is the consumer act even though it's been around for a long time

But if you want you could get them reported for breaching these policies
