Heart Surgery Success

Just an update for those who wished my son luck with his surgery.
The surgeon was able to do a full repair of his heart. We were warned that until he operated he didn't know if he could fix everything and he warned us there was a chance he might no survive the surgery. But after 12 hours of surgery his heart is fully repaired, he shouldn't need any future surgery and he is recovering better than expected. His doctors are amazed at the progress he has made after such complex surgery. We have to be cautious as he could still have a bad day but so far so good. He is such a wee fighter and my absolute superhero!

Thats great news. Im glad that everything went well and he shouldnt have to go through more surgery in the future. What a brave little boy, must follow his mammy because you have been so strong aswell 
Aww thank you! He is so brave and he is desperate to be awake properly and moving about and given the nurses hell when he doesn't get what he wants!
Absolutely brilliant news to start the weekend with. If all of our wishes could help then the road ahead would be incredibly smooth for you as a family. Best news ever! Make sure you get some rest - guessing you are mentally whacked.
He has had so many prayers thoughts and well wishes that I truly believe they have helped all of us! We have been able to rest the last few days, which has definitely helped.
There are some people on here you feel as if you know.....and you are one of them. I am happy beyond words that all went well for your little treasure and I wish you all a brilliant future. Please keep us up to date with his milestones walking, first words etc and I am nominating him as the official LD baby lol! 
I know exactly what you mean as I feel I know you too! He is doing so much better than expected, I cant quite believe it. He is charming all the nurses! I will definitely keep you up to date, his first word was dada! Aww he will be delighted with the nomination.

I so admire our NHS, they get such bad press.

The NHS has been wonderful. Looked after him from the day he was born. His surgeons, all the nurses and the other staff who look after him are just wonderful, special people and I can't ever thank them enough for what they have given our family. The NHS should be celebrated.
Nice to see positive opinions on the NHS for once, i think they do a brilliant job.They do a wonderful job, they have taken such fantastic care of our son. He is recovering quicker than they expected which is really good.

Thanks. He is doing well. He is now out of the ICU and on the high dependency ward, which is a big step.

Wow that's is such wonderful news! I hope everything continues to go smoothly in his recovery, that must have been such a relief for you all.
There are no words for how relieved and grateful we are! He still has a way to go and could still take a step back but so far been doing really well and out of the ICU.
Just another quick update. Our son was discharged from the hospital on Friday. Doctors couldn't believe how well he recovered. He is loving being back home and has loads more energy. He is eating everything in sight and keeping the formula companies in business with the amount of milk he is drinking now! He has put on loads of weight and is thriving. He is still on medication but hopefully only for another few months.
