Heated Clothes Airers

Ask a Question

Do you have one? Are they any good? Seems much cheaper than a tumble dryer but potentially cause a damp/mold problem if you're not careful.

It's got to that time of year when I can't dry outside anymore and looking for an alternative.

My neighbour has the Dry-soon from Lakeland and says it's great, also supposed to be quite reasonable on the electric.

TiaTia this must be the one I've seen on the Lakeland eBay outlet. It does seem much more energy efficiency than a tumble dryer. A few pence per hour although more now with the recent rise on energy prices.

ClaireF1978 We have a Lakeland shop locally so she would have purchased it from there, but yes I do believe they are energy efficient.

We have a JML Dri Buddi and we've found it really useful. Have to be careful not to overload it and heavy items such as towels, jeans etc take quite a while but overall very pleased with it.

I bought mine from Lakeland, it has a timer and I can set it for between 1 hour and 12 hours, I got it as a special package deal at the time so it came with castors, a full cover with 2 zips, 6 pegs on a special strip, I don't know how to explain it, that you can hand undies or something on, and 2 of something else that I don't know what they are called but you can sit them flat on the rails if you want to dry something flat like a jumper, it's 54" tall, 26" wide and 28" deep, at that time it cost me £173 but it's invaluable and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it or buy it again!

Bear in mind , that for obvious reasons , these heated dryers produce a lot of moisture . So ensure the room where you are using it is well ventilated otherwise you will have a damp problem .

We have one, we shut it in the kitchen and also plug in a dehumidifier next to it, which seems to pull in most of the moisture.

Ours is way to big though, once it's setup there's not much room for anything else, so we tend to employ it overnight.

We have a heated airer. We got ours from Lakeland about 12 years ago. It still works great and are pretty energy efficient. I only use the heat on it for short periods of time, an hour or two once I've put the clothes on. It holds a lot of laundry. You will need to have an area you can put it where it won't bother you as they can be quite bulky. I've never had any issues with mould or damp with ours. When I have the heating on in the house then I don't put the heated airer on and I don't leave it on overnight or if I am out.

I got the minky one. Its alright and ideal when lots of clothes and not enough radiators. 4p per hour to run but you will need it on at least 9-10 hours to do the job. Don't leave on overnight.
