Heating On?
Ask a Question
When do you put the heating on? Do you wait until a specific time of the year or a specific temperature?
I’m trying to be more careful this year and waiting as long as I can to put the heating on to save money but it is starting to get quite chilly!
I tend to wait until late October but my husband wants to put it on whenever it's cold. We're both working from home so I expect the heater will come on earlier this year as sitting at desks barely moving we'll be freezing
Well, my husband decided to light the stove last night as it was ‘officially autumn‘. Unfortunately, he didn’t remove the glass candle and tea lights from the top first. An hour later, the smoke alarm was going off. I went to investigate and pointed out the smoking candles. He tried to remove them, dropped one which smashed and set the rug alight!! No more stove for a while......
Oh heck...I feel your pain! ...You told it well but it must've been so frustrating .... and expensive re the rug!
BORDERJOE it was all rather dramatic at the time! It also took a fair bit of cleaning up and the rug is beyond saving. At least it wasn’t worse and no one was injured.
We haven't put it on yet, the weather's getting chilly but this year it's been back and forth a lot so it could still warm up again. We tend to wait a while until we feel like we REALLY need it.
Yes I put the heating on this afternoon after a hailstone storm. It’s set now so will come on automatically.
I’d like to put it on now, but once you start, you are going to need it all the time. Instead, I’ve got my fleeces on now, and I’m resisting the temptation put on thermals...
I put the portable electric one on in our bedroom last night so our son wouldn't be cold. I would normally put it on when even with layers on it feels cold, but as our son has a heart condition and feels it colder easier, it will probably be on earlier than normal.
Had to have ours on early September-only for an hour or so a day but even warm clothes wouldn't do we were so cold!
Gave in yesterday afternoon, couldn't shake that cold feeling I had it on this morning too.. at least I know my heating system works finemy excuse..I usually wait till october and I try to keep it the same temperature to save money x
When the temperature in our house gets down to 17 Celsius, that is when it is time to put the heating on. Though we normally only have it on for a couple of hours at a time.
yer i live in shorts and sliders and im starting to feel the cold gonna have to put it on soon lol
Our heating has been on this evening, so cold in the house even when I am in pjs and dressing gown!!
Heating has been switched on in our house this week as the temperature has dropped dramatically.
I actually turned it on today just to avoid mould during the winter. And to keep my feet warm.
Not yet, in a new build which traps the heat in, so its unbearably hot in summer and actually a nice ambient temperature atm
I've been fine up until today and I have to admit those strong cold winds had me wavering but can probably hold off for a couple more days.
