More gimmicks, I mean seriously who wants a Ketchup or Mayonnaise Cup cake when you could have a chocolate one instead .
Me I think these flavours work quite well in a cupcake. I've tried other cakes and deserts that have used mayonnaise or other unorthodox ingredients and they've never been disgusting. They may not be the best thing ever made, but they are usually tasty.
I am not surprised about this. That are giving away free cupcakes with these ingredients tomorrow (11/10/1019) in London only!
It's limited in the sense that they will only be available for a short period of time and will also only be available from a handful of shops.
Not today, but I should be going to one of their shops tomorrow. I'm not sure which one (or two) to get.
I tried the Heinz Beanz Cupcake. It was nice, tasted a bit like carrot cake. I went to the shop in Soho. It appears they only sell one type of Heinz cupcake at a time and alternate the flavours each day.
I don't live near London so won't get to try but im also curious, they surely wouldn't make them if they tasted disgusting. Ketchup has a lot of sugar in it and I've seen mayonnaise used as an ingredient in cake before.
I'm intrigued and I'd try them for free, but wouldn't buy them. Don't want to waste money on something that I might not like and these sound risky.
Only the mayo option would interest me as it would make the cupcake moist (probably offended the country with that word!) None of the other really appeal. Beetroot and red velvet.......now you're talking.
The Heinz cupcakes will be available up to the 20th October. If you want to try making them at home you can find the recipes here - https://hummingbirdbakery.com/pages/heinz-collaboration
- note the cupcake schedule on the link may be wrong as the Heinz Tomato Ketchup variety was not on sale in the shop I visited on the 12th October.
I would give them a go. Im not a fan of sweet things, and I often find hummingbird cakes quite sweet, but these don't sound sweet at all. It’s intriguing
