Help a Mum out with Elf on Shelf

Other

Evening all as you may of know or maybe do yourself but but in 3 more sleeps the cheeky pain of the elf arrives.

Throw me some ideas suitable for a 5 year old.

Make a snowman from toilet paper.

Put out sprinkles, flour or sugar on a surface (could use sand, talc or anything else powdery you have around too) and lay the elf in it to look like it’s making a snow Angel.

Have the elf hide something (I’ve seen people do 12 candy canes for example) and then have your child find them all.

This one takes more time, but wrapping doors or cupboard doors in wrapping paper where the elf is “practicing their wrapping skills”.

cocolgooh like the idea of candy canes will use chocolate coins as no body likes the canes

Ann1984 That makes sense, best to use things everyone likes!

My friend has done a similar idea but with books instead of anything edible. He got each of his children a Christmas themed book tailored to their interests. Then wrapped them and had the elf hide them as an early gift from Santa that they had to find.

Don’t do it myself it got too complicated with remembering where I’d put him and to remove on Christmas Day but this is a great one 😆 Image

Ann1984 ours has been know to climb the artificial plant, swing from the light, squeeze down the middle of stacked loo rolls, or you could do kitchen roll, one year he ate all the chocolates when we were out and grew to twice the size.

My sister had the elf draw faces on the bananas and made a snowman with the toilet rolls and the elf also squeezed toothpaste on the bathroom sink

We're a few days in and he hasn't made an appearance yet. We left a few little things out to make it look like he'd visited like a note with advent calendars then moved various items of furniture around. Kids are loving trying to notice little changes in the house - they've even noticed a couple of things that we hadn't actually changed!

Our elf was trapped in a jar by the others (we have 3) with a note to say he had farted. We cut up some onion and placed in the jar so when the kids lifted it it smelt!
