Help - Why is Latest Deals Promoting Deals during Coronavirus?
Ask a Question
Latest Deals is an online community where members of the public share deals, vouchers and money saving tips with each other. It is similar to a Facebook Group.
On social media, we often re-share these tips. For example, how to save on your grocery shopping, or how to get things you need for less.
To encourage members of the public to stay at home, in our email newsletters and direct communications that we write, we’re trying to focus on retailers which offer home delivery.
However, please note that we do allow members to post their own deals they find helpful for others, and that these may include in-store promotions. These may be shown on our Facebook Group and website.
We have received some comments that sharing online deals - even though they are for retailers with home delivery - may be irresponsible in terms of containing the spread of Coronavirus. That we should stop the public helping each other through the sharing of deals, vouchers and money saving tips. And in essence, that all online businesses, warehouses, distribution centres should close down - along with all the jobs that go with them.
This is a very complicated issue with many sides and different opinions. We do not feel qualified to say what is right and wrong.
However, as an online community platform similar to Facebook or WhatsApp, we do feel responsible for allowing the public to share information for which they feel is helpful to others: including online and in-store deals.
And, quite frankly, if Latest Deals were to stop members sharing ways to save money with each other, our community would cease to exist.
We would hope that the companies with online delivery who have chosen to remain open have done so following the Government's advice on additional safety measures. Some online companies have closed as they are unable to do this, and of course, we are not sharing any deals for them.
We want to help the Coronavirus situation as much as possible, which is why we created a supermarket price comparison tool to help families save money as many are losing their jobs. It focuses on supermarkets with home delivery.
We are always open to feedback and suggestions, so please feel free to email email@example.com.
