Hermes Not Knocking on Your Door to Deliver
Other
I have a parcel due from them. I had an email from the CEO last night. They want customers to pick a 'safe place' from the drop down list on the parcel tracking page to say where to put it. Apparently they will also take a photo to prove they delivered it but the customer has to tick a box on the delivery page to say they accept responsibility for it being put in a 'safe place', ie, if it goes missing then that's your problem, I guess. The drivers will also sign for parcels themselves to say delivered to avoid contact with customers. Now none of the safe place option apply to me, so I'm sticking a note on the front door advising the driver what I want him to do with my parcel. What amazon will do when they deliver today, who knows. Amazon are a law until themselves with deliveries.
Yesterday, I had a package from Home Testers Club. No one in, so they left it by my front door, DPD delivered.
Hermes knocked on my door and delivered a parcel 20 minutes ago. Amazon have been good too, only difference is not signing for them
Amazon arrived. didn't read the big sign on the door telling them where to put the parcel, but then left the parcel in green recycle bin. I was in but couldn't get to the door quick enough as they did knock. We will see what hermes does tomorrow. Whether the driver will follow the email that I received and leave it outside or will he knock?
This always reminds me of a true story, where a Yodel delivery driver thought throwing a parcel through an open bedroom window solved the problem. His "Sorry your parcel is on the roof" note, still makes me laugh.https://www.birminghammail.co.uk/news/midlands-news/sorry-your-parcel-roof-yodel-10485972
That's a great idea sticking a note on the front door. Let everybody else who sees your front door know where your parcels will be. Brilliant.
Its ok for me,porch is angled so folk passing on path at end cant see actual door from there.only folk who pass are ones wanting access to our small row of houses anyway.
I think it is a great idea that Hermes are knocking on the door and leaving at a safe place.
My postman knocked on the door, left parcel then stood by my garden gate n just shouted, it's your parcel, no signature needed
Hermes came and it wasn't what I was expecting. It was some gardening gloves, so those got pushed through the letterbox and I received an email with a photo of the gloves being pushed through the letterbox. I still have my wilko delivery via hermes to come then.
I ALWAYS pick a 'safe place' anyway as i cant hobble to door fast enough,as ive got osteoarthritis, but they hardly ever comply, despite note on my door to that effect also- i told one courier last week i was not using anything to sign his acceptance ipad he says i "had to or they get done for it" so thats a turnabout in a week eh?
My son took one in,guy held it by edge, reached it out about 2feet for my son to grab opposite end of box....
So what thats nothing new they usually just throw it over the wall or up onto the roof or into my hedge!
Makes getting things a lot more fun having to hunt them down!
Given these unprecedented times, I think this is a good idea to protect everybody. I really think this is a first-world problem right now, given what we are facing. In my experience of Amazon, they generally just leave it at your front door and do not always even bother to ring the bell. On the whole, since signing up to Prime over 5 years, only one item was not delivered. I was, of course, reimbursed on my Amazon account. Xx
I think some people are cautious and don't want to be in contact with people so think it is a great idea that they leave at the door.
I am happy that this is being adhered to - I've had several deliveries where the driver has rung the bell and I've acknowledged with a 'thumbs up' at the window. Hopefully, this sort of procedure will keep us on track for the estimated confinement.
DHL came today with some more compost and I put a sign on the door with what to do with it and all went fine. Didn't see the driver at all. Being at the bottom of my garden is like being at the end of a field
I have a email saying .uk parcel was delivered and left somewhere safe.it is safe alright it was not even . My house as l and my son was in all day.and now l can t get any were to go d out were it is.
I had a DPD delivery today and the way they operate is taking a picture when the door opens
Hate dpd drivers they speed around bend and am sure they think they playing knock knock ginger they knock door and before you put foot on first step they gone
They've never knocked on my door unless its a bigger parcel that cant get through letterbox. Most of what I order just gets put through letterbox
My delivery person just knocks like a bailiff and by the time I get to the door the parcel has been left on the doorstep even if it's raining & he is walking away. I then get an email with a picture showing its been left. I know they need to keep safe but it would help if they waited to see if anyone is in.
The Royal Mail is the best as our postman will leave it with a neighbour if you are not in, which is very rare now adays. But I live in a small town and it's a safe to do so.
Lately Amazon drivers have been taking a photo of parcel when placed inside front door to prove delivery
hermes are awful in my area.
one time i had a parcel due and he said tried delivery at 1.45 but was only 12.45 when i received the email? was weird, couldnt talk to anyone as no way of doing so.
where did this old thread I started come from? Last time I saw it it was hanging around stonehenge
I'M LUCKY, both my Hermes and Yodel couriers are great and know where to leave my parcels if I'm not home. I've got fab posties as well who have been known to take non-post office parcels back to their depot for safe keeping if they know I'm on holiday!
It's all to help and aid couriers and hermes themselves to commit fraud and theft. This has been going ona while and hermes have refused to try to prevent theft instead they have become aggressive with customers but continue to employee thieves and anti social youngsters . I've had my parcels ripped open by the courier and steal items who isn't afraid I know and refuses to use a safe place a d has stolen parcels. He does a runner refuses to knock door and jumps in a speeding car.
Hermes reaction was we don't care we will not stop theft by our couriers.
This company I'm vetu sure is involved in stealing property and supports employees to do this as they do not have any cus ser a d refuse to provide contact details. This is a classic indication they have something to hide.
We are now in the day a d age companies like this don't feel theft is a crime a nd will openly allow their employees or even assist them in that theft
It's OK taking a picture but someone could steal it afterwards, I was notified that a parcel had been delivered and signed for by me, but I was at work!
jwhitaker537 they've done this to me a few times too, I then phone to ask who exactly has my parcel and they dont have a clue.
They hardly ever know on my door they usually leave a note saying they have attempted to deliver the parcel after Ive spent all day inside at home. I then have to email Hermes to let them know that they Ive been in all day only left living room to go to the toilet and they have left a note and put it through letter box instead of knocking in my door.
Yes it’s happened with me once I was waiting for my delivery all day I found that the leave it on my garden that’s weird
I had a problem with Yodel yesterday. I got a notification saying they tried to deliver, but there was no one at home and they put a card through the door. I was at home when I got the message also didn't receive a card. So I'm assuming the driver tried to deliver it to the wrong address. Customer services is little more than a series of recorded messages. None of which related to my issue. I ended up sending a private message to their twitter account and got a response a couple of hours later. I now won't be getting the package until next week.
Not too many problems with Hermes lately but DPD said that I wasn't in and showed a picture of someone else's house! (I had been tracking him online too, so I knew he was close). It was a delivery of flowers so I emailed the company who got him to come back that day.... Result
Amazon are the worst for me. Sometimes they don't even attempt to knock to see if your in. I know most of the regular delivery drivers and postie. So they know where to put it if we aren't in.. so usually good. Its when they say it delivered when it's not. Then send an email to say it will be delivered next day. So which one is it?
Oh, don't get me started on delivery drivers LOL. They simply dump everything outside and won't even bother to knock, ring the bell or anything. Amazon is the WORST!!!
When you were younger Did you used to knock peoples doors and run away? If so you can apply to be a parcel delivery driver!
My Hermes couriers are the best, they always deliver when they say, and are always really friendly.
I've seen the Hermes delivery guy just sit in his van, where I can see I'm the next order. I go towards the door ready to open expecting them and they just drive off saying no one was at home. Had video footage and complained. Still no improvement on the company
During this lockdown most of my parcels have been left in my porch so I haven’t had any contact, had no problems and think it is a better idea that suits me.
