Hidden Cruise Fees & How to Avoid Them
Other
I think this woman is great , cruises are expensive as it is, and some of her cost saving tips are brilliant
She has found numerous ways to avoid the extortionate extra charges most cruise companies charge
Attending organised functions to get free drinks, or making friends with those with a drinks package to get the rounds in
Only asking for room service if she can get it free and avoiding very expensive wi fi
The photograph idea is another gem
I think she should write a book

This doesn’t work, making friends with those with a drinks package to get the rounds in. You can only order one drink at a time.
This is all helpful information, i have always been put off going on a cruise cause it’s already expensive then you have to pay to go on the excursions etc.
Pjran You will always find Wi-Fi somewhere when you get off, just make sure your mobile contract covers where you are going.
My partner & I are going on our first Cruise around the Mediterranean to celebrate my 60th next May, before he booked he took advice of a Walking Football mate who's done over 20 Cruises...
janphoenix51Have a wonderful time I’m sure you’ll enjoy it. If you would like a birthday cake then let the cruise line know, they’re free and often served at dinner. Cruising is more affordable today than when I first started.
Pjran ...I presume this question is for me??
My partner has booked our seven day Mediterranean Cruise through Marella Cruises to celebrate my 60th birthday next May.
It's our first cruise hence only a short one to see if we like it...
janphoenix51 you’ll thoroughly enjoy it and kick yourselves for not cruising earlier. My sister didn’t cruise for years assuming it would be too posh and now goes several times a year solo.
janphoenix51 We are going on our ninth cruise in two weeks. Once we have paid for the cruise we don’t pay out much after that. We can take our drinks if we want, soft drinks or alcoholic, we don’t drink a lot. We have won bottles of wine on board and also got bottles of Prosecco for free after making a complaint. Tea, coffee, juice and water is free. After a meal in a restaurant you can ask for a cappuccino or hot chocolate, they dont let you know this. We have never been on an escorted tour and get local buses which are cheap.
eyeballkerry ...Thank you for all that information, all comes in handy .I HATE Prosecco, had a few bottles gifted for my 50th, I gave then away without the person who bought me them knowing!!
janphoenix51 I dont drink, we tried to give the bottle to a member of staff but she didn’t like Prosecco either. My husband had to drink the bottle himself.
I've always wanted to do a cruise but my Mrs doesn't like boats or water lol when we go on holiday I take kids on boat trips, she stays at hotel, she just wont go on them
martinlufc5637 I used to get ill on any boat I went on. Ferries were really bad across to France and even to the Isle of Wight. I won’t lie, I have been on eight cruises and overall I have been fine, the bay of biscay can be a bit choppy.
Pjran..
Thank you..
We are going away 6th to 13th of May & I turn 60 on 24th May..
I'm celebrating my 60th by going to Sheffield United's Bramall Lane ground to watch Paul Heaton, supported by The Lightning Seeds & Shed Seven the day after my birthday. My actual birthday I will probably go for a family meal..
Paul always looks after his fans & is a Sheffield United fan, tickets were around £40..
My mate & her identical twin turn 50 on June 8th so she's joining me along with my little brother, his wife & 3 of our friends...
We have been cruising all over the world since 2013 think we are addicted to cruises. We have had some brilliant bargains. Looking forward to a few more.
I will be making sure my partner & I take a look at all the savings you all have been kind enough to share before our cruise...Thank you for all your comments, we appreciate them...
