One of British artist David Hockney's most famous works, The Splash, has been sold for £23.1m at Sotheby's in London.
Do you like his work? I have never really been into his style of art, but I can image that with the popularity of his art whilst he’s still around, it’s a no brainer that his work will fetch even more in the near future
I can't get my head around art like that. Nothing wrong with it but does nothing for me. If I had the money and someone made the strong case it would be a great investment I might be tempted but certainly have no appreciation of it myself and the same for most art.
I'll have two. But seriously I actually like that painting. I would have it on my wall, but at £23.1m I think I'd have to settle for a print, if I could even afford a print lol doubt it.
Lol a couple of years ago a book seller was trying to get me to part with £1000 for a book about Hockey's artwork, ever so subtly suggesting that when the artist pops, it’ll be worth a lot more. I’m still considering it lol
some people just have too much money, to spare. But you are right, as his art is bound to be worth more in time
They just made up that number out of nothing, really. My father knows an artist and because he's unknown, his paintings have no value. I saw his works and really liked them so hearing he had no success made me feel bad for the guy.
