Holes in Tops
Help
Hi, not a deal but related to saving money. Is it just me or does anyone sufffer with holea in their cotton tops? just about every top I own has at least one hole in the same place. I’ve read it’s due to jeans but I mean I can’t stop wearing jeans!! Any ideas how to stop this? I’m now reluctant to buy any new tops!! Help!!!!
push you zip down and try not leave it poking out ! its annoying but u just have to make sure its always facing downwards
Do not tuck your tops in side your jeans. Leave your top over your jeans. That's how I wear mine. And fine I do not get any holes.
Holes can appear in tops due to washing also and the older they are the more the fabric stretches so can produce holes. In terms of jeans, you could try the stretchy jegging type so that there isn't any buttons/zips.
Thanks. it’s happened in brand new tops too. Might have to try those, I like wearing jeans tho! Nightmare!!
I like jeans too, but I find the jeggings kind brilliant as they are stretchy and super comfy and you get ones that look just like jeans.
pull on the holes to make it bigger - then you can start rocking that hobo trend! All the hipsters seem to be doing it
I do! My last 2 brand new Tees got a hole right at the front after their first wash. I was fuming. I got some washing mesh bags now for new stuff
I got fed up with these tiny holes ruining tops so ended up buying several different coloured cheap vest tops which I wear under my other tops - they cover the zip/button area and although they are now full of holes at least my 'proper' clothes are saved.
How about going in different direction and if you can't avoid getting those naughty holes just ad a DIY spin to it and rip it all up
Hi AnnaSmith
As the holes are always in the same place it’s very likely that the problem is caused either by:
a) Friction, where your cotton T-shirt is rubbing against the hardware of your jeans (metal buttons or rivets), or
b) From doing too much house work!
Only kidding - I mean that you may be rubbing up against a hidden snag on your kitchen counter top when washing up for example, or when opening a window above the sink. It could also be a hidden snag on the edge of a dining table or desk top. One way to check for snags is to put your hand inside some tights and rub your hand along the edge of the counter tops. For people getting random holes – try this tights trick around the drum of your washing machine .
If it’s friction causing the holes – the problem can be solved with (iron-on) fusable interfacing – see this video.
For your t-shirts that already have holes – don’t chuck ‘em out just yet – you can do a pretty good repair once you know how – see this video:
