Home Remedies for Nerve Pain?

My friend has recently had surgery in her ankle and is now suffering with awful nerve pain. The hospital have advised they won't be able to do anything for several weeks so we wondered if there was anything she could do I need the mean time to ease the pain?

Two ibuprofen tablets up to four times a day can help. But it's probably better to see a GP for some stronger medication that is not available over the counter.

Cold therapy.

Applying ice to an area has some pain-relieving effects. Use a bag of frozen peas which can be easily molded to fit almost any area. Handy for ankles.

Alternate between hot and cold. Either compress/spray/gel. Shocking the nerve is meant to rewire the nerve endings and reduce the pain.
