What to Take for a Hospital Stay?
Ask a Question
What would you recommend taking in when your going into hospital for an operation? Do you regret not bringing something? We don't want to end up spending lots at the hospital, so what she would remember to bring?
I regretted not taking flip flops for the showers, they are absolutely disgusting! Plus the hospital food was horrible so I'd reccommend taking your favourite cereal in case They gave me toast that was made with stale bread, it was so dry it was actually inedible!
Flip flops for the shower, comfy clothes, plenty of books, magazines, a tablet loaded with TV programmes, plenty of snacks, juice/water bottle, shampoo, conditioner, shower gel, deodorant, slippers. That's what I took with me when I had my wee one. I was in the hospital for 2 weeks and these things were essential for me. I also found that going for a walk when I was able to really helped as I wasn't stuck in the one place. Hope the operation goes well.
It's the constant noise and the bright lights still on at all hours in hospital that can be exhausting when you are trying to rest. So think about taking things like noise cancelling headphones or ear plugs, and an eye mask. And don't forget chargers and 2m long wires for tablets / phones.
Take squash concentrate to mix with into the jugs of water they provide, also I took instant porridge pots so that when they bring tea, coffee etc in the morning they would make up the pots with hot water. Much depends on your relationship with the lovely orderly staff though.
Ooh this is a good idea on both, I'm not great on drinking water so squash is a great plan!
I always take socks for the evening as the wards seem cold x also my tablets as at our hospital they let u take ur own pills . Take couple bags of mints puzzle books .clean underwear towels dressing gown n pjs n a lounge suit for in day n slippers. All the toiliteries and one of my mugs from home as they give plastic or polystyrene n they make me gag xx
