Well I should be ok then. I am always pottering about as there always seems to be something that needs doing. I wonder if it includes the fence painting and front of house painting I need to do, if so I had better get straight to it.

When my mother went in to a home with dementia, we would often find her dusting when we visited. The staff said she was much happier doing little jobs! Her own home was always immaculate when she was fit and well. I suppose the activity can become ingrained?

Generally, I think any kind of physical activity can keep us more healthy in mind and body.

I must admit I do worry about 'going downhill' as I live alone and covid has made the isolation so much worse. Having no visitors and no one to talk to can be quite soul destroying. Yes I chat to family on the phone and am back working but sometimes this is less than 2 hours per day and not much time to chat except to the kids we are transporting.

Lynibis I think loneliness and isolation have been a huge issue over the past year. I know this has lead to depression in many.

You sound to be fit and active. You love gardening and working around the house. You also read a lot, which is great. The only thing you are currently lacking is human and family interaction. Hopefully things are finally improving and we can all enjoy mixing with others again soon. Spring is also here!

gerrykelly25 you are absolutely right Sherlock lol. I am just finishing my second coffee and am into the garden to paint a few fence panels before the sun clouds over later today. There's about 18 panels so hopefully will do 4 or 5 per day!

Hope having good intentions count towards brain health. I have lists of things in my head but the body says no!

Well if it's any consolation I didn't paint any fence panels today, nor did I do much else. I just can't get motivated these days and everything seems too much bother.

Lynibis the brain is willing but my body lets me down. I simply can’t do these easy household chores any more.

I'd just like to offer my house to any old people in need of doing some cleaning never enough time to get through it all

Personally I think by the time you are old it’s a bit late (that’s my excuse). Come on you young ‘uns, you’re the ones who can save your brains - get cleaning!

Very true, I bet they didn't factor that into their research. A slothful, lazy nature (young or old) is bound to have an effect on the brain.
