Any Ideas for Gifts for Son's Girlfriend
Ask a Question
My son has been going out with his girlfriend on and off for over the last two years. They have recently been "off" but have reconnected.
I really like her but don't want to spend too much.Last year was easier as they were together so I was able to get Harry Potter merchandise. This year thinking of smellies or chocolates that way of they break up I can use these.Do you think these are too generic?

I don’t think they are too generic. It makes perfect sense that you‘d want to get her something impersonal since you’re not often sure if she’s still part of your family.

I have the same problem with my nephew and his girlfriend ... so have just put together lots of small items... a home made mask, bars of chocolate, socks ... and more to find...just cheap and cheerful .... I have to say that I wasn't impressed that they didn't even acknowledge the last gifts ... is it just me ?!?!

No it isn't just you, I can't stand bad manners and not thanking someone for a gift is high on the list.
I stopped giving Xmas gifts to my brother's 3 girls as I never got any acknowledgements for parting with my hard earned cash, I may as well have posted cash in the drain outside my home.
They were all teens when I stopped so old enough to know. My brother didn't like it but my other sister put him straight as she felt same!

Lynibis Ha ... almost mirror of my thoughts ... I stopped at 18yrs old for the same reason ... then when we moved closer I thought I 'ought' to give token Christmas gifts .... but even at 27yrs of age...still no change! My brother and sister in law wouldn't accept criticism unfortunately.

No I don't think it's too generic at all. Smellies, chocolate or a nice bottle of something I think is more than exceptable. I have bought my sons girlfriend a bottle of her fav rum, some lush bathbombs & a box chocolates. I know she likes what Iv got so that makes it easier, If your in doubt what smellies/ chocs she likes Im sure your son will be able to point you in a good direction.

No not generic at all and I’m pretty sure she’ll be grateful you’ve thought of her. Because they have been off and only just got back she might not think you’d get her anything this year. I’d say she’d be grateful well I would be

It isn't too generic. My mother in law didn't buy me a Christmas gift until we got engaged, same with my parents. I think some smellies or a nice box of chocolate would be more than acceptable. I completely understand wanting to buy something you could use yourself incase they break up again.

I would go super practical. 7 days of socks, or facemasks or bars of luxury chocolate....

I wouldn't get anything at all for her until they're engaged, at least. You're so kind thinking of the lady before that stage!
