The Importance of Being Kind and Helpful.

Other

I think some members on here need to be reminded to be kind and helpful. Being :

  1. Rude
  2. Unhelpful
  3. Impolite
  4. Insulting of someone's intelligence;

should not be allowed on here. If I see a chat topic which isn't relevant to me or I have no positive comment to make, I just ignore it. I think this would be a much nicer atmosphere if people were not so critical of others and provided helpful comments rather than attempted to belittle individuals. Being helpful is really important to me when I post questions on.

You might feel someone has asked a stupid question, but rather than be negative, just don't comment.

I think 2021 should be the year where everyone is nicer to each other, rather than being judgemental or unkind or generally unhelpful.

I really hope more people start posting positive chat topics, with less negativity and criticism.

I completely agree with you on this one - I've had serious issues with comments insulting others or doubting their intellect but, perhaps, the commenter has personal issues and no filter so sometimes it's best to ignore.

There was a thread posted earlier this morning concerning 'this or that' topics and I back that up 100% Members should read the guidelines for chat so that the thread stays relevant. When the topic is lazy, I scroll on - I much prefer your Broadband question.

I've historically used the chat function for advice, help and guidance. but unhelpful comments or rude statements really put me off posting and I imagine a number of members feel that way. I'm not against hearing both sides of an argument, but rudeness, unhelpful and not informative statements I find are too often voiced and I'd rather see some level of support and kindness

Ann1984 it's not constructive if it's purely unhelpful statements. constructive criticism gives specific recommendations on how to make positive improvements. unhelpful statements cannot be labelled as constructive criticism

jamiepownall I've given plenty of constructive criticism to try to help make try to make this site better from a noob point of view, all of which have been deleted. I was asked to send emails and not post openly here (one can only wonder why) but that takes days for a response (usually after chasing) and the questions still go answered.

jamiepownall Surely if the chat subjects themselves were intelligent and invited constructive , helpful comments (As your Broadband question was ) they would attract helpful and informed comments ? Indeed you got one from myself .

The opposite of course is equally true .

Golfforall but is there really a necessity to post negative comments to chats you find, as you phrase, unintelligent. we all, as humans, have different views, opinions and interests. something you might find uninteresting, may be really interesting to others. The point I make is if you have no particular helpful comment to make, it's better to just ignore it and comment on the things you have an interest in.

this was not an attack on anyone, but just asking people to be a bit more light-hearted, less critical, and less rude.

TheChimp I don't believe I am causing trouble. as you would phrase it "I'm expressing a different opinion". As Emma states below it's a community, where name calling is not welcomed and getting personal again is not welcomed.

It was an attempted to encourage other users to avoid commenting pointless, negative and unhelpful comments and to be more helpful and supportive. if you've nothing nice to say don't say anything at all.

it may also generate new interesting topics if others were not put of by the negative comments/pointless rude statements made by certain members

emmabeckz I sent an email on the 31st then asked a few questions in reply on the 2nd Jan. This was responded to today without answering any of the questions I asked. It's not urgent but is frustrating nevertheless and could easily be answered by the community here I'm sure. That way it would free up LD's staff time as well but alas as my experience here has shown me, that's apparently not the way forward 😞

just in case my two questions are

How long are members like me subject to the review process when posting deals?

How long are members like me subject to be restricted to posting only certain deals? i.e. not being able to post amazon market place deals?

just to add I've got to just over 4000 points, posted 24 various deals, so not really here to self promote

ramtec we have a filter in place for anyone new to the site posting Amazon deals on both marketplace and FBA as we have found a lot of self-promotion starts this way so all your Amazon deals will go into moderation for approval by admin. Even staff who start at LD have to do this! There is no set time or amount of deals shared until lifted as far as I am aware and there are number of factors involved.

I believe my colleague has already replied to these queries via our team email support, and your feedback about having chat.

Deals are also automatically moderated and checked when you post from a new website and also things that could contain referrals like Wish, Uber Eats, Uber, Avon etc and this will continue when you have been here ages as we need to check they aren't referral codes which we don't allow on here.

Thanks

emmabeckz thanks for the info.

Not sure on some of your terminology, FBA? and SP?

I get why deals are moderated for new sites referrals etc.

The problems that arise from moderation

  1. By the time the deals are moderated, sometimes over three hours, either they are posted by someone else or 2. they sell out. The former keeps happening which is frustrating and puts your new starts off.

hence my questions

I'd welcome Kelsey's input
