Improvements?
Ask a Question
I go to the trouble of posting lots of deals, comments etc on this site but a fair percentage get taken down which means it's wasted effort. Even with topics that are taken down, for instance if another person has posted a similar topic. There's no way I can see of being able to put that chat into the other topic. Once it's deemed a duplicate it simply disappears. There's no access to what has been written so we can do this ourselves and on other sites I've used, the mods just simply merge threads, so there isn't even a need for the member to do it manually.
Today I posted three blu rays while having a search on amazon for cheap ones which I thought might help relieve the boredom in lockdown. 2 went through, one got "I'm afraid this doesn't meet our rules type nonsense" all three blu rays were sold by and delivered by Amazon, I also noticed they did free click and collect which provided great value for non prime members.
What gives guys, can't we just try and improve the site by helping our members help other members without all this OTT silliness?
Just merge topics if you deem them dupes
Have a defined time / level for deals not needing to constantly go to review
Have some structure on how deals are evaluated
I like the way the site recognises the effort of members and rewards us, fab, however if the site can't or won't improve then it's simply not worth the hassle and will put me off posting anything in the future. I'm sure I'm not the only one who feels this way.
There's really no need to merge topics. If you have something you want to say in the chat area and someone has already posted a topic about it/something similar to it, you simply post a reply in that topic, and then people can respond to you in there. The thing you wanted to discuss can be discussed very easily that way. Even if the topic is older, posting a new comment will bump it up to the top of the list so people will see it.
In my particular example (one of many) I did not see that a similar (not quite the same) topic was already active. I had written quite a substantial amount taking 20 mins or so of my time. So I would of at the very least of liked to have had the ability to cut and paste it into the other topic. Seems simple enough to me angelik, no?
ramtec If you use the search bar, you can easily find whether there is a similar topic already active, just by searching keywords. Then you just add whatever you want to say to that topic. You're not the only person to complain about spending time on a post that then got deleted, I've seen other comments like that. But it can usually be avoided just by checking before you post.
angelik in a perfect world angelik. surely a much simpler solution to this annoyance would be to be still be able to go into the post and copy and past it out? You can still see deal information if that gets rejected, why not topics too. Of course the best solution would be the ability for merged topics. Also this was just one example of frustrations. Funnily enough, I just posted another Amazon blu-ray and guess what it went through. It's a good job I have patience but I know most don't.
At least you can post etc , I'm not allowed to do anything but reply / comment to others posts
have you offended the powers that be or perhaps I should ask how have you offended the powers that be? eek!
With the DVD’s you could have put all 3into one deal post.
With topics yes a lot are duplicates and one you shared other day had only been mentioned few days before which I did share a link not sure who’s topic other day then we removed
Ann1984, you are correct I could have but for one, not all three pictures would get posted in the header which I think would distract from the deals. As so many of my deals go sideways for all sorts of unfathomable reasons, I think it's best, is it not, to keep them brief. I can't follow your next sentence as it doesn't appear to make sense, so can't really comment, soz
Thank you for your Chat thread and feedback. I'm sorry to hear you have had a bad experience with Latest Deals.
I note you have also emailed this feedback to us recently, and that the support team has replied sharing more information and guidance to you already. To avoid cross-communication, I won't share the same explanations and details again here in Chat, and ask if you would like to speak directly to the team, you are welcome to email us.
- Just merge topics if you deem them dupes
Thank you for your feedback, we can certainly add this to our list of feature request ideas and discuss them if popular amongst the community. If you have any future technical ideas, you are welcome to add them to our Feature Requests chat thread. We also encourage members to read our Chat Guidelines for more guidance, and to search Chat before posting to see if the topic has already been raised.
- Have a defined time / level for deals not needing to constantly go to review
From what I understand, more guidance on this has already been shared with you from our support team via team email and another Chat topic. In short, posts from new members go into Review in an effort to maintain good quality deals on our website and avoid self-promotion and scams, keeping our members safe. There are a number of factors that determine when your deals stop going into Review, and it's not a defined time nor level. We're unable to share what those factors are, to avoid scammers getting around them. I'm sorry about that. For as long as your deals are good and meet our guidelines, they will be accepted and at present, the average time a deal is in 'Review' is approximately 3 hours.
- Have some structure on how deals are evaluated
To read our structure on how deals are evaluated, please read our Guidelines. These have been created along with community feedback over the past 4 years, and for which many discussions can be found in Chat. We are always open to listening to feedback and adjusting Guidelines if that is what the community wants.
As this Chat post is addressed to the Latest Deals team and is a personal support query, I'm going to close the comments. Thank you again for your feedback, I'm sorry to hear you have not enjoyed the experience, and if you need any further help our support team is available to answer your questions via our email.
