Russia to leave International Space Station (ISS)

Ask a Question

I've always thought that the ISS was a fantastic scientific collaboration, nations working together with a common aim. So, whilst I wasn't surprised, I was disappointed when I read that the Russia is leaving the ISS program in 2024 to go build its own space station. Do you think this is a return to the Space Race?

PRETTIEST There are doubts on wether it will be able to continue without the Russians, so it means that smaller countries will not be part of the Space program. Not sure what that will mean for the scientific community, trying to think of any breakthrough due to space and only Teflon comes to mind 😁

Humans shouldn't even be trying to colonize the space which is unknown territory. Are there probably living beings? Yes, would I like to meet them? Definitely.

Is it gonna happen? Probably not.

The ISS is due to be expired in 2031 anyway, sent back to Earth to burn up in the atmosphere, so everyone is technically leaving soon!

Tom When I read that it was started in 1998, I did wonder when it would be obsolete, it's just a shame that countries are going it alone like China & Russia, I like that currently it's collaborative, with 18 nations being involved so they can share ideas.
