If you want free - Kaspersky Free.

If you want paid - Kaspersky Internet Security (you can find good deals on eBay).

A lot of folks recommend Windows Defender, but that's because they've not done the research and think the AV included with the OS is enough.

By the way, and if you want a free VPN - Windscribe. They sometimes give 20GB and 60GB free as an incentive to go premium if you're enjoying it. And you can try premium for a day (just ask on the website's love chat box while logged in).

How about Windows Defender?

Windows defender and malwarebytes together make a brilliant combination, I would avoid using anything else as they tend to be system hogs.

WD is alright as a basic AV, but lacks many features and gives false positives when it shouldn't. There are far better AVs and I've already recommended to the OP.

Rockman I disagree but you're entitled to your opinion. It has never given me a false positive and it does everything you need an AV to do with Malwarebytes being excellent at what it does also.

Also I don't need to do my research as I am confident in my knowledge, but if Kaspersky works for you then that's great 👍🏻
