IZAL Toilet Rolls Are Now 'Toilet Tissue' .... No Good to Me and My CALLIGRAPHY!
Other
As if I hadn't got enough to occupy me (seagulls and sourdough etc) ... I'm trying to learn Modern Calligraphy. I've printed off and laminated my practice grids but just couldn't find any cheap old fashioned easy to see through tracing paper. I had a brainwave and thought of schooldays when we used IZAL loo roll. Apparently it's now 'antibacterial tissue!' no longer multipurpose! I've ordered tracing paper from Amazon now but the reviews weren't great. Just thought this'd be a blast from the past for some and if anyone has any good ideas ......? I even searched for sheets of greaseproof and that's not cheap either!
The last tracing paper that I got came from WH Smith but that’s not cheap either now , I sometimes use thin white paper
I guess I'm just surprised at how stuff that used to be so dirt cheap appears to have become almost 'designer' price .... maybe crafting is now so popular that it's a different type of market.
BORDERJOE yea I think that everyone is now doing some sort of crafting that it has made the prices jump up but then some are saying since we came out of the EU the prices have risen as things are harder to get a hold of
tara73ziva too right...I hadn't considered the BREXIT thing tho ...all I know is...it's always a shock when I go to buy ...and thank goodness for sales and codes!
This might work ... what about acetate sheets (like what you woukd have used for an overhead projector) a bit more expensive, but if you use a fine tip dry wipe marker, they will wipe clean, then reuse, so cheaper in the long run?!
Another option similar to this is to use the glass from a picture frame (or use the entire picture frame and put what you want to trace inside behind the glass, I guess?). If you use washable markers or whiteboard pens they’ll wash off so you can the same one over and over.
tara73ziva and FG280 ha ...hubby suggested that and I poo pooed it ... oops...actually it's a good idea ...thanks ... at least for the initial practice... and I have got some.
How about using a light box? Should make it easier to see what's printed through regular paper
ch7leach ... and another idea that matched hubby's maybe I should listen to him more ... I've got one but I wanted to be able to just settle to do the basic practice without the faff of clearing a space and plugging in my lightbox. That'll be great when, eventually, I am writing poems, sayings etc. Thanks for the reply.
Just by chance, we passed a THE WORKS store .... I popped in and found, for £2 .... 30 sheets of tracing paper so that's me sorted for a month at least as Dad donated some sheets from his technical drawing days (decades ago)....I hope! Thanks to everyone.
Thanks for coming back to comment - I've just looked and will definitely be popping in to get a pad.
