Job Interview Tips
Ask a Question
With millions looking to become unemployed very soon what tips would you give someone for interviews.
Mine is research research research, if you can't answer , what do you know about our company ? You may as well not even bother walking in.
You can find so much about companies on the internet , social media etc etc so no excuses
Research defo is important.. many employers warm to you if they see you have taken interest in their company.
Another tip is too dress smart and turn up on time.. punctuality is key!
Research is deffo important during an interview as it'll be more like a quiz on the company your going in for than interview.
Give yourself plenty of time to get there early so that you aren't flustered. Be clean, tidy, to the point, make eye contact and smile if you don't look like you want to be there you probably won't get the job. My interview tip
Is don’t make silly comments like I do
But always got the job
So making them laugh has too be my top tip
At the end of the interview, ask for the job!
It's surprising how many people don't.
The employer is unlikely to say yes immediately, but it helps show you have confidence, and that you are keen to work there.
It'll also help you to find out what the next steps in the interview process are going to be.
I had 2 interviews in one day, and that was a nerve racking experience! The first one I did not want after attending, and I went on to the second one in the afternoon, still full of nerves! I managed to hide these and I went on to be successful and I got the job. So it is all about showing confidence and trying to be relaxed at the same time. I did arrive half an hour early too as I was unsure of the area, so that probably helped too!
After watching that my top tip would be dont have curry or baked beans for lunch if the interviews in the afternoon
Do your research on the company you are applying for and see what they want to be known for. Diversity and inclusion in the workplace is very topical right now so asking how you can contribute to the success of the company's policy would show initiative and awareness.
My advice would be ’just be yourself’. Don’t fake it or pretend to be something you are not. If they don’t like what they see, they don’t deserve you.
Don't be scared to ask the panel to repeat the question. Nerves can easily make you go off on a tangent, then you realise, panic and stop, without answering properly. When you stop, just take a breath and ask them to repeat it
Also if something comes to you later in the interview for a previous question, ask them to go back to it!
Listen carefully to the questions you are being asked.
Be prepared in advance with scenarios you can use to evidence your experience.
They have seen your application/ CV. That is what got you the interview. They will now be interested in you as a person. What is your personality like, will you fit in with the team etc.
