Kelsey; when I view a massive chat topic on the app, seeing the latest post seems to only be possible via manually scrolling for a long time as the pagination is only there on the website. Also, when I tap on a notification when somebody has replied / liked a comment, it does not automatically scroll to it if the topic has a particularly large amount of comments. I'm guessing the latter problem exists because beyond a certain point, the comments are dynamically loaded upon scrolling.
That could be a simple solution depending on how the whole thing is built. It would solve both those problems too because a notification is usually regarding a comment that would be within the amount of comments loaded when you first go to a topic on the app.
Hey
In the app, if you tap on the comment number at the top of the post it should load the last set of comments and allow you to work backwards - should save your thumbs having to scroll to the end! You aren't the first person to miss this feature so I'll have a think about how to make it more obvious
Similarly, tapping on a notification should load the "page" of comments that includes the comment you were notified about (with the ability to load previous comments or scroll down to load more). It sounds like a bug if that isn't working?
We're aware that sometimes the automatic scrolling to a comment sadly doesn't work. This is usually when there are lots of images in comments. The list of comments loads first and we then scroll to the comment. But afterwards the images load in (at varying speeds depending on a person's internet connection) changing the height of all the comments and making the original position you were scrolled to incorrect. I have a plan to fix this but requires quite a significant rethink of how comments and images are handled at the moment.
Re: the order of comments - thanks for the suggestion lilyflower I'd ideally like to add the option for members to choose how they want their comments sorted. However, the way the system was first built (by me - so no-one to blame other than myself ) makes it rather tricky. Definitely on the wish list though!
It's interesting I have missed that feature to be honest - being someone who works on stuff like this. I know how it feels for a client to keep pointing out faults so please take this as constructive feedback. Even Facebook regularly has similar bugs, particularly with scrolling to comments etc so quite similar. I see the problem you have with scrolling and images. All I can say there is... good luck.
