Just for Fun: Name a Fish That Doesnt Have the Letter a in It
Other
Well it’s that wet here today, I am expecting fish to swim by at any moment!
Can you name a fish that doesn’t include the letter A?
I absolutely love this fish and all the different ways it can be cooked - Monkfish
Whiting
Coley,
Pollock,
Dover Sole
Brill
Dover Sole
I like monkfish, but it’s quite expensive sunny101. I have a monkfish curry in the freezer that I got from our fishmonger. I’m saving it for when my daughter is able to visit.
eel I didn’t try this one of my friend cook eel curry with white rice it’s look s like snake to me one more Herring fish
I don‘t fancy eel Jasmine111! Maybe cut up and disguised in a curry it may be palatable.
Bristle nose plecs, guppies, ghost knife fish butterfly fish or lemon sole, Dover sole, kippers
I had to look up bristle nose précis tara73ziva and then realised we had these in the tank when I was a child - catfish!
I had several as a child. Won at the fair. They all died very quickly, which was quite traumatic at the time!
Guppy, Blob fish, Pike, Swordfish, Stonefish, Bluefish, Perch, Turbot. gerrykelly25 my local Morrisons have monkfish tails in all the time at a reasonable price.
gerrykelly25 No Morrisons? I can arrange to send some over or try to arrange a home delivery
My GOLDFISH is Called BOB, I can lipread - at least that's what it looks what he told me when I asked.
Well, lets see, how about Chubb, Swordfish, Stonefish & Turbot.
I'll have a think and ask Mr T if he can help.
gerrykelly25 Ahhhh! it could be - an Australian friend used to call people by this name and only told me it was a fish.
gerrykelly25 I wish I hadn’t. I hate cutting them, you can’t keep your knife sharp with them. But the blue ling they are much easier to cut. Tusk is a nitemare also. Very tough fish to cut
this is a ling
gerrykelly25 I have no idea I think they go to France I have never eaten it. I just like battered haddock with chips on a Friday from the chip shop
I also cut cat fish , grey beards, hake , coley, reds, pollock, cod,
heatherduthie is that why you start work so early, to process the fish as soon as the catch comes in? (Aren’t I nosey!)
gerrykelly25 ling is the top picture the bottom one is reds. Your not being nosy at all. Yes we start before 6 and I finish about half 2 as I have to babysit my grand kids.
gerrykelly25 yes. I changed jobs 4 weeks ago. I was paid off from where I worked and got another job but didn’t like it. We were cutting small haddock and whiting which are easy to cut. I left and got this job cutting different fish. It’s a lot harder as some of them are so big. I’ve been filleting fish for 30 years now but this is the hardest job I have ever had. I’m not getting any younger, My other half said when you get older your met to slow down a bit and take it easy. I’m doing more hours now and it’s a lot more tiring cutting the big fish and a lot harder on the hands, don’t know how much longer I will be able to do it. My carpal tunnel syndrome is getting worse all the time With repetitive strain on the hands and wrists everyday. I will need to win the lottery so I can retire
gerrykelly25 thank you. I love cutting fish it gives me great satisfaction when I see the fillet come off.
bristlenosed plec, bumble bee goby, perch, goldfish, pencil fish, guppy, molly, swordfish, shubunkin, clown fish, trigger fish, squirrel
fish - I’m a bit of a fish geek sorry! Love fish but not to eat!

gerrykelly25 ... I was itching to put 'WANDA" ..... (John Cleese film) .... if only you'd allowed an 'A' .....hang on ... I'll think more .... great fun tho!
