Just had my Shpock account disabled for swearing at thief!

Other

Someone tried to sell me a stolen phone a few days ago, so I left them neg feedback and then realised they made a new listing for the same phone so I wrote a message for all to see saying it was stolen and on top of that, I put a few swear words in there. (obviously should never have swore but in the heat of the moment, etc). In hindsight, the simple thing to have done would have been report the listing. But me being an idiot, simple things are the hardest.

Went on Shpock today to see one of my listings had been removed, it was for cat flea products, over the counter stuff, so I sent a message to support asking why it had been removed, they were legal to sell and none prescription. Got random reply saying they are busy and will reply in due coure.

Then I realised other aspects of my account were not working, like messaging buyers, and editing details of ads, and also doing a search shows none of my items.

I then realised my rant on the listing that the phone thief posted had been removed and he has sold the phone to someone. I am guessing he made a complaint to Shpock, as thieves do, always in the right, never wrong, how dare I damage his chances of him selling something that is not his?

So I am putting 2+2 together and guessing Shpock have disabled my account for my message on that thread, which is understood, I should have not swore, but they could have let me know the situation as most other companies would. But regarding my account not working other than I can log in, I have had no contact from Shpock, other than they removed my flea product listing. I have contacted Shpock regarding my account and awaiting an answer.

I can easily set up a new account but that is not the point, communication from Shpock would have been nice, after all my account had over 50 feedback and was in good stead so it was not as if I set up a fake account to troll someone. Just seems to me this company is a bit Mickey Mouse, are they run by Ebay/Gumtree by any chance?

Will let you know what happens when they reply, see if they are a company whom communicates and listens to reason. Or just sees the offending problem and their word is final without seeing the bigger picture from a long time account holder.

Leave your review on their Trustpilot page. Shpock will most likely try to get in touch with you to change from a 1/5 to 4/5 or 5/5.

Anyway, if a price of an electronic sometimes seems to be too good to be true then there's a catch.

Was a 5s with a broken screen for £50 but I got him down to £40. Not too shabby as I often see good ones selling for under £100. Anyway when he got here (I previously asked him prior where the phone came from as I do not buy stolen goods), he said it was his own phone but now has an upgrade. Anyway when he got here he said it is not a 5S but an SE and he wanted another £20 on top. I had a look a the phone and asked him to remove the icloud, he said he will do it when he gets home, I said no mate, do it now in my house, he said he did not have his password to hand.

I then questioned him how he could not know his own phone was not a 5S but the later iPhone SE, surely he knows what phone he had. He said he did, but with the broke screen it was in a drawer for ages and he forgot. I told him to do one, not buying, dodgy as kid. Find some other mug.

Then I saw him reselling it on Shpock for a higher price so I warned other people.

CashoutCarl What an amateur con seller. Shpock should ban him from their service, not you.

Rockman To be fair, they would not have any idea it was stolen, I did not report it. But I find it strange how they removed my listings and limited my account but let me log in and never gave me any notification on what was going on whatsoever, other than they ended one of my listings due to terms and conditions, which I thought was odd as they were everyday items. But now it makes sense, but they could have a policy in place where they let a member know if they have done something wrong and what actions they are taking, instead of leaving a member guessing what is going on.

Never had a clue. Never used PriceSpy, I think price comparrison sites died a few years ago, never accurate and you still end up manually having to search for prices yourself. I just started affiliating for Dealo, or should I say accepted their offer on Aff Win. I never really looked at them and a few weeks later they emailed me asking why I was not promoting them, is there anything wrong. I glanced a tthe email and thought, Dealo, hmm, must remember to check the website when I get time to see if any offers are worth promoting. This week realised they are a price comparison site. Not a bad thing, but I just think too most people who are internet savvy they are more hassle than beneficial.

How annoying! I use shpock too but I do find there is a lot of fake goods on the site. Do they have an email address you can contact them through to explain the situation? Maybe theyll be more understanding if you explain that someone is selling stolen phones on there.

Also.. Out of curiousity, how did you know the phone was stolen?

Good luck with them anyway I would be interested to hear the outcome! 😊

I decided to give Shpock a second chance, so I bought an item for £3 and then the seller said with delivery it's £4.95 so I sent it.

Then she says delivery costs £3 extra and I ask her to send back the money to my account, still waiting.

She's been selling there since 2018 with nearly 300 feedback (4.9/5), yet she refuses to send it back and I know she's active as I noticed new listings.

I've contacted Shpock about this. Man, scam someone for less than £5? Gotta be pretty desperate and willing to lose their account for it.

Fellas, never do bank transfers (or send money via PayPal Friends or Family) even if it's just £1. I know I won't and I thought it'd be a reliable person based on the info.

An update:

Shpock CS has entered the discussion between I and the seller, and Shpock told her to act responsibly or they'll restrict the account.

Good to see it's not a jungle where scammers do what they want.

I'm afraid all I have ever read about Shpok is scam, scam , scam . That is why I have no experience never wanted to try it . OK EBay is dearer for sellers but at least you have protection 😏.

Update 2:

Seller has refunded me at long last after she was threatened by Shpock CS, if not, she'd keep ignoring me.

Furthermore, she gave me one star when I was straightforward (sent her the money so she'd send it without considering if she were a scammer - she is), yet I can't give her a review as the deal has been undone, Shpock doesn't. eBay allows to give sellers a negative review when they deserve it.

I've emailed Shpock CS about this issue. Safe to say, I'll never buy from Shpock again.

Vinted? Sure.

Preloved? Sure.

eBay? Sure.

Gumtree? Cash only (though I never use Gumtree)

I know I can pick it up from sellers on Shpock, but when they do this "stuff" it just shows how messed up it is. I sell on eBay and I respect my buyers, sometimes I send them freebies with their orders (like, a buyer said he needed a phone and couldn't afford much so I gave him a second one free of charge).
