Just Sold My First Item!

Other

I have just sold my first item on Gumtree! I had an Alien perfume set that I was never going to use. It was worth Β£50 and I got Β£10 for it. Just as i was deleting the ad i got another message to ask if it was still available! It felt really good get a bit of money and helping to save someone else money! So thank you to everyone that suggested where to sell items! I'm so pleased.

Well done - but hopefully the item's been collected and the money's in your hand, if not it's best to keep the telephone number of any future enquirers, there can be so many time wasters, even when giving stuff away.

The item has been collected and I have the money. I have other items for sale and I expect there will be time wasters but I'm in no rush.

Well done! I tried to sell things on gumtree but not to avail. I managed to sell them on ebay though so i was happy with that.

I've got items on gumtree and preloved and fb marketplace (although for some reason my womens clothes weren't allowed but the baby ones were!) If I don't have any success in a few weeks then I will try ebay.

Hi gaelle0501 do you mind if I ask for any tips about selling on eBay. I've some clothes to sell and would want to post them out rather than having people collecting. Thank you πŸ˜πŸ¦‹

Dani1 I just add the postage to the price. But for clothes it might no be worth it. My items were brand new kitchen appliances at a fair price plus postage the buyer was still buying a new item for a lower price than in the shop

gaelle0501 thanks so much. I will have a look into postage prices as I've got dresses with the tags still on that i'd like to sell. That's brilliant that they were able to buy brand new kitchen appliances for a great price 😍

AliceBell64468 thanks, its things that are brand new, that I will never use or clothes that are brand new or worn once for a few hours and then my sons things that he has outgrown. I'm not wanting to make a fortune, just a little extra money would be nice xx

It was brand new, never been used. I can't use it anymore as it gives me a headache, so I thought I would see if someone who would wear it wanted it. I kept saying I needed to start selling stuff too and eventually I asked for some advice on here, listed items on gumtree, preloved and fb marketplace. I put the perfume up this morning and an hour later it was gone! Hopefully you get round to selling your items and making some money 😊 x

MrsCraig that's lovely that someone will be able to use them and that you made some money for items that you no longer use. I bet they were so pleased when picking it up x Thank you, I'll take a look at those sites too. I hope to take a leaf out of your book and start selling. I did my first bootsale recently (I got advice from here 😍) but I have a lot of items that are brand new dresses etc to sell. That really was so fast to have sold the perfume an hour after putting it for sale. Congratulations on your first sale and I hope you do really well and make some money too πŸ€β˜˜οΈx

Dani1 I was delighted. I've never done a boot sale, would a little difficult with my son, so online was the way to go. I have some brand new dresses for sale too. A few people said try depop for clothes, I think vinted is meant to be good too. Thank you, I'm just wanting to declutter and get rid of stuff I will never use or no longer need, the money is a nice added bonus. Good luck with your items x

MrsCraig Hi, ah yeah it must feel great to start selling things that you don't need and put it towards something for your son x Ah yeah it would be a little difficult to do one with your little boy 😍 Tbh at the car boot a lot of people offer £1 for everything (new or old) so I brought my cheaper tagged clothes. Thank you so much about depop and vinted. I hope you are able to sell all of your dresses too. I agree it's lovely to declutter and make a few pounds in the process. I wish you lots of good luck too and I'm really pleased for you 😍x

Dani1 yeah I have heard that about car boot sales. Whilst I'm not looking to make a fortune there is a price that I won't sell certain items under. I've sold 3 pairs of Jean's and a pair of boots, someone is interested in a dress, someone is picking something up on Sunday and I would have sold another pair or boots yesterday but unfortunately they didn't fit on the legs. Mine have all sold on fb marketplace so far. My son will need new clothes soon and he is being christened in a few months so any money will be going towards that x

MrsCraig I know what you mean. I only brought things I would sell for cheap and brought what was left to the charity shop. The things I'd like a better price for I hope to sell online soon ( will have a look at how fb marketplace works now) You really have done well selling so many items so quickly. I hope everything goes well on Sunday and that you'll have a buyer for the dress. That's so lovely to hear that anything made will go towards your son's christening and clothes for him πŸ˜πŸ¦‹x

Dani1 I sold another pair of boots today. I am surprised I have sold 4 items as quickly as I have. The woman that wants the dress hasn't replied to me so not holding out any hope for that one. I'm sure your items will sell, I have put mine on for reasonable prices, which is maybe why they have done well. The extra money will mean we can make his day a little bit more special 😊

My husband sold a made.com armchair that he had bought off gumtree a few years ago. He couldn't remember how much he paid for it but priced it based on it's going rate on there. You can still buy the same style new so it was a decent amount. He was grumbling that someone had made him a low offer but when he searched his emails to see how much he bought it for, the offer was about Β£30 more than what he had paid for it. Very pleased! He cleaned it with the steamer so it looked brand new and the buyers were pleased with their bargain too!

Gumtree is a bit of a Russia Roulette. Consider eBay next time.

I just thought I would see it anyone was interested, sold 4 things and got someone coming today to pick up another one. I will give it a few months and if the don't sell then I probably will just give them away.

I would never pur our dog up for sale! I agree that it is awful. I know that people advertise puppies that have been breed for selling on gumtree but didn't think people put pets on it! How could you do that to a loving animal, doesn't make sense to me.

In the last week I've made Β£55 from selling my items! I'm going to deliver an item tomorrow, someone is coming on Sunday and I've got 2 other people interested in items. I never thought I would sell my items this quickly! With the money I've made I bought my sons wardrobe in the next size up for Β£30 and the rest has gone into his savings. I'm so pleased! Definitely worth doing.

MrsCraig yeah it takes time to sell it but it’s good to get rid of items, I am mostly selling items I got for free from glitches on amazon, I don’t need them and people who needs them can buy it for a quarter of rrp as not selling for too much so everyone is a winner
