Keeping a Journal/diary

I used to love writing in my diary, particularly in the difficult times of my life, where it was a great way to gather my thoughts. Now and again, I look back at them with nostalgia, I guess the same as looking at old photos
However, these days I don’t write anymore, and being online has taken up my time
do you still keep a diary and update it?
I haven't kept a diary/journal properly for years but someone recommended doing this again to me recently as a way of helping with anxiety/depression and also to use mindfulness techniques.
I personally don't buy i went on a yoga retreat recently af she explained abiut journaling and how its helpful to do.
I used to write in my diary during teenage years. However, I don't write anymore as I don't feel interested in doing so. I do like to look back at them. I did have a digital diary where I recorded my mood and it helped me look back and see how my metal health is like.
Funny thing is I've literally just found a freebie diary on here and ordered one. Maybe the universe is trying to tell me I should start again.
