Kindle or Tablet
Ask a Question
my daughter has had about 4 kindles all of them had problems with charging port, not sure whether get another and see how it goes or try a tablet, what are your idea's?
Are they still within warranty? If so, get in contact with Amazon. If not, what's your budget? What do you want to do with it?
I have a small reading kindle and a kindle fire (using now) but I must admit it gets on my nerves with its Americanisms in the predictive text. Also it will change a word that you have typed into a totally bizarre choice which does not fit the sentence at all!
I have never had trouble charging though. If I had to buy another it would be an ordinary tablet.
I bought a semi-wireless charging cable from AliExpress and it's brilliant, works wonders! Basically, it works it's magnetic and it connects automatically once it's near to it so you don't have to bother shoving it in.

Rockman is it just the cable i need and not the charger bit, and is it the microcable for the kindle?
The cable works universally for the three adapters - Apple, USB-C and Micro USB. smedleys97
Amazon tablets use Micro USB (or "Microcable") and once you start using this, you won't want to go back to the old cables.
Rockman thank you i have ordered it, well 2 so i have a spare, hopefully devices will last longer for my youngest now.
The longer cable is better but also a bit pricier. smedleys97
With this cable she shouldn't have any problems as the adapter is magnetic, but if the cable is somehow damaged (torn, cut, or etc as it tends to happen when people misuse cables) that could affect it.
But personally, it works wonders for me. Never had any problems with it. Also, if this was an Apple product they'd charge £150-200. lol
I had this problem with my kindle fire as well. And the cables always seemed to get damaged which was a pain as I would use the same one to charge my phone.
I read a lot, and love my Kindle. I also have an iPad that has the Kindle app, but I like to use the stand alone Kindle separately. It is lighter to hold and transport- especially when travelling, the charge lasts a long time, if I lost it, at least it’s just the temporary loss of my books rather than everything on the tablet.
I have a designated charger that I only use for the Kindle and I have not had a problem with charging ports.
After 4 kindles had issues I would go for a tab, but not even Amazon fire one...I am thinking to get other tab for my daughter, so I can download some other games and videos to the tab, what Amazon not support.
I preferred my daughter with the fire never had no problems changed to an ipad and whaa bamm it was it smashed within a couple of months
ye my daughter had an ipad off my mate and dropped it once and screen went black can hear sounds but nothing turning on screen, think ill stick to kindle fire, gunna buy final one for her and use the magnetic charger and fingers crossed no problems with charging port.
