Kitchen Tiles
Ask a Question
before my husband left he painted my kitchen tiles BLACK i wasnt impressed, dont fancy taking them all off and putting new on, anybody know of a cheaper way to get them back white, is there a special kind of paint i need.
It is the hardest to paint black to white. You need to remove the black paint with something if it is possible and than paint it white. But maybe it is more work than change all the tiles.
I know nothing much about d.i.y. but would you be able to get some paint stripper and do a few tiles at a time? If stripped right back you may like the original colour or just paint again if you don't.
didnt think of that, i liked the original colour of tiles that was white but ex thought it good idea while i was away to paint it as a surprise him thinking it be nice, not at all kitchen looks dark and getting fed up with it now need it bk to bright.
If he used standard paint then it shouldnt be too hard to remove. Tile paint will come off aswell but will just be a bit more difficult.
he used paint in bathroom RED, me n youngest been peeling that off, kitchen tiles is hard think he used black gloss getting scraper out tomoz and having a go at getting it off.
smedleys97 you might have some luck with a wallpaper steamer if you have one, i used that on painted tiles before and it peeled off easy.
KirsteyJames no steamer unfortunately, but thank you, might see if any family members have 1.
Black! Wow that is er... interesting. Yes stripping is the way to go although you may find the paint had darkened the grout which you can get white paint pens to fix.
