Knitting for Charity
Ask a Question
Does anyone on here knit for charity? If you do, what do you knit and who for?
I don't but my sister does, we have local knitting groups who have been knitting poppies for the Royal British Legion. They have also knitted breasts to help teach breast feeding
My wonderful granny and her friends knit blankets, hats and cardigans for the neo natal unit at their local hospital. I still have the hat and socks that my son was given in the neo natal unit and I still remember walking in and seeing him wearing it and my granny was so happy when she saw him in it because she knew just how appreciated her efforts were and how much they actually help people.
It might seem like such a small thing but it meant so much to us as it was one less thing for us to worry about.
i do i knit hat's mittens and cardigan's for charity shop's and i also give to hospital for the baby's i enjoy knitting so i also knit hat and scarfs for my nieces in the winter
I don’t personally but at work some people knot teddy bears and different outfits for the bears which are donated to a local charity Buddy Bag, they provide bags for children who have had to leave a house with their mother due to abuse, I think it is a nice idea as the bears look really good quality.
My mum has previously knitted hundreds of red Poppies for sale for remembrance Sunday which were really popular in Libraries.. she’s also knitted catnip mice as toys for cats in rescue centres, that were VERY popular with all cats who got them!
I started knitting blankets for neo-natal last year - thanks for the reminder. I will have to dig out the needles again because the squares took no time to complete and it was really theraputic.
Thank you all so much, that's given me plenty of ideas and things to look into. I'm looking forward to starting now
