Seems like a bad idea considering people still use it day to day.

Landline usage maybe decreasing, but fixed-line phones are unlikely to disappear completely as it's a good idea to have an alternative system as a backup. Just in case there are problems with one.

We have a landline in our house which is in good working condition, but we hardly ever use it and we only have it because it's part of a package. Otherwise we just use our mobile phones. ☎️ 📱 x

I can see why it's considered that they are dying out. With the uprising of mobile technology taking off it's not surprising. But on the other hand, I personally don't see them being completely 'dying-off' per say. Just less common. I reckon they wont be as common in the modern general household, but I reckon they'll still be in use in places such as offices and schools and other workplaces where a mobile phone isn't an option.

Very true, I haven't used a landline for about 18 months!

No, we should still have landlines for emergency use...Calling from a landline is much easier for emergency services to know who is calling and what your address is (that is if your details are up to date in the national database)..

Also broadband services still require a landline. Mobile internet will never be as reliable as a fixed line service....

landline line rentals are expensive, and now that everything is powered by the internet, a lot of businesses are moving onto VOIP calls to save money. Though it's not the most reliable, it is cost effective, and it will only get better with technological innovations
