Large Gathering Lockdown Rule
Ask a Question
Seen on a few news articles today that the government are planning to allow bigger gatherings in the next few weeks! How does everyone feel about this?
Seems unwise, I won't be doing anything like this for a long time. Are you sure this is for UK as I've seen a post regarding Australia easing restrictions shared a lot on fb (people mistaking this as something that is applicable to the UK)
Not "large " gatherings . The reports are that groups of 8-10 friends and or family members may soon be allowed to meet outdoors .
A welcome easing for us who obey the guidelines , but sadly the underclass have been doing this and worse throughout the lockdown .
Golfforall would this be with social distancing or without (sorry might be a stupid q haven’t been paying attention to the news lately)?
MsLamboLova12 Still with social distancing . ie no kickabouts in the park as I understand the thinking .
Even talk about "social bubbles" as in New Zealand so if anyone of the 10 gets the virus then the others have to self isolate .
I presume that for this to work you would have to somehow "preregister " your "bubble" and could only be a member of one bubble ?
If the press acted responsibly and asked useful questions we might learn more . Instead they are like a dog with a bone endlessly asking the same questions about a certain bloke - who cares ! ask some informative questions .
Golfforall Ah okay fair. I mean with 2 metres distance its a bit awkward people could just stay away from each other a little longer!
I totally agree with your last comment! I think they should move on from that certain someone and focus on what matters. That someone ain’t going anywhere anymore and at the end of the day its on you how you react- either use him as an excuse to run outside or use your brain and not follow suit! It would be nice if the media asked more relevant questions! (Rant over)
Caz2 Not snobby at all ! Its all to do with the values (or lack of them ) in a certain part of our society . Haven't you seen the news ?
Nothing whatsoever to do with wealth (or lack of it ) or social standing .
Wake up and realise what has been happening to our society for many years !
Golfforall - 'underclass' - listed as 'jobless, non-working, welfare-dependant, dysfunctional people' ....so that sounds like looking down on people just cause they aren't working, or are not posh.or higher class.Just because a person is not working, does NOT mean they are dysfunctional. Or have a lack of values.
Golfforall But its not always the non-working is it? There are nice, normal, well behaved people who just happen to have lost their job, often due to nothing they have done wrong. Who aren't dysfunctional.
Caz2 You don't get it do you ? Underclass is a state of mind , a lack of values etc etc . Nothing to do with being unemployed or on benefits etc as I stated in my first post . You have used a few words for them which I agree with - but basically they are the Underclass .
Well, each of my 2 sons is part of a family of 3 (husband, wife, child) that's the extent of our little family. We have all obeyed the rules and I do not understand why we cannot sit in our gardens socially distancing. No different to sitting in a park, in fact less safe I would think in this weather. We are all covid free and are desperate to see each other.
The theory on that anomaly is that not every house has access to the garden down the side .
So "guests" would have to come through the house potentially spreading the virus as they go .
Also where do they go to the loo ? Particularly if an upstairs loo ?
I see the point folks are making but you have to make rules that can be universally applied . A terrace of houses ,the end ones can have guests in the garden the inner ones can't ?
Golfforall I can see that, but I do have side access leading straight into my garden and if my family came for an hour or so they shouldn't need loo as they only live 10 minutes drive away.
It's a fact that life is unfair and I am punished for having a side access garden that others don't. No one seems to mind that I have been totally alone since 22nd March though when many are in lockdown with family.
Lynibis Unfortunately this whole thing is unfair . Imagine the controversy if it was announced that those with side access can meet family and friends in their garden but those in flats or mid terraces can't . Don't think it would do much for community spirit either ?
Golfforall Boris said yesterday it was ok to ''go through houses to get to gardens". And use the loos. And have bbq's. What jolly fun.Not.
PS I will not be going shopping any time soon and that is another anomoly. How can it be ok to pop off shopping (they say there will be gel, no touching of goods etc) and yet I cannot sit in my garden with family members I trust, bonkers!
I personally think you are safer in your garden with 2 or 3 loved ones than in a park where, like the beaches, people seem to disregard social distancing. Then you get others who think it's the end of the world if someone walks past. Surely that's only risky if they cough or sneeze as we keep being told it is not in the air.
I am obeying everything but cannot help playing devil's advocate.
I do not understand the whole thing, u can meet with up to 6 people...why 6? Thinking who can have a family of 6 from them????..whatever this government does is confusing and unclear. I am sure when we will need to go back to work we will meet with more than 6 any ways. The shop assistant, the nurse...construction worker...etc politician meet more than that number...stupid rules again and again....
JUST BE ALERT WHAT COMES NEXT.....
And to be honest I would not call this lock down anymore.
Not sure how your areas are, but I live in London and lock down means for us that more people are outside than before on a normal working day. There is no police to enforce any laws...not even sure if we have laws since Cummings done what he done..
Total of 6 people . What's confusing about that ? Not you + 6 but 6 in total .
Just make sure the group you are in numbers no more than 6 , still keep 2 metres apart -Simple !
Don't fret about other people not following the rules , report them and move on .
The Underclass have been flaunting the guidance since the start of this and that brainless part of society (probably less than 15% of the population ) are responsible for 80% of new infections .
If everyone obeyed these simple rules the whole thing would be down to manageable numbers in weeks .
Remember any one can have it without showing symptoms and can therefore infect others !
Be safe , treat everyone (including yourself ) as infected, stay at least 2 metres apart and we will beat this thing . At the same time we will protect the low life who will never comply .
AgnesFaludi The group can be in your garden , but not inside your house/flat providing you are not self isolating for other reasons .
Golfforall But up to 8 in Scotland. I forgot, they're always a special case, with their own special rules...
I agree too early to be so widespread , but its for economic rather than political reasons .
This thing isn't going away any time soon and as a country we have to start earning again .
I don’t understand how 6 or 8 or however many people will meet with social distancing especially if its family and friends? Yeah right your going to stay 2 meters away from your parents who you haven’t seen in 10 week or a new born baby - hugs kisses standing near each other its naturally going to happen!
I can understand how friends /families want to be together and I hope publicity over the weekend will bang into even the thickest of skulls what a dangerous move this is unless strict social distancing is deliberately applied .
We can now play golf with 4 people together , hardly a risk as we are rarely within 20 yards of each other - certainly no hugs or cuddles !
Yet 6 close friends /family together in the garden with alcohol/BBQ ? Probably a 10%- 15% chance (statistically) that one of the 6 has the virus without knowing it , but as we know now capable of passing it on .
Perfectly safe if every single gathering obeys social distancing - BUT !!! - what's the chance of every gathering obeying ? Either through ignorance or bravado (it won't happen to me !) many more folks will get infected next week !
Fail to observe social distancing in the new easing phase and many people will DIE to put it bluntly ! Initially your friends and family then those they subsequently meet .
There is no excuse for causing deaths by ignorance or bravado - educate yourselves if you are unsure .
The infection rate (and deaths ) will shoot up in the next few weeks , most entirely avoidable .
Treat everyone including yourself as infected and KEEP YOUR DISTANCE at all times .
