On the surface, both of these deal websites are great but dare I may say HUKD has the upper hand on more and better (imo) found deals as it's been around for 15 years while LD for only 3 years.
But in terms of freebies, competitions, vouchers, rewards and converse (discussions between users) it seems like LD keeps it more civilized and mature.
To be honest, I've seen and had more polite chats on YouTube than what I've seen on HUKD which was just users discrediting users because they wouldn't accept another side of the discussion (why bother having one then). So like, "you either agree with what I say or you agree with what I say." 
I'm a member of HUKD but not really very active. I do mostly enjoy using latest deals (I get a bit annoyed when things I’ve posted are changed or removed) but for the most part I like being an active member on here.
I have seen a few things on HUKD but they were on here aswell, i dont have an account with them though 
LD all the way for me 
Hukd is awful. The layout is unattractive . The admins are dictatorial. LD is much more civilised. The software is easier. I like it here
I was only on HUKD for the competitions, which used to have a lot of posts and many active users. However, after a very unpopular 'upgrade' 2 or 3 years ago, which changed how you posted and the look of the site, the competition page became a bit of a ghost town in a very short space of time. The site didn't take the complaints seriously enough and users just went elsewhere.
