Live Music Scene in 2021

Ask a Question

I love music and nothing beats the feeling of seeing a great band or artist live. As with most things the live music industry has been decimated by Covid-19 this year. In the future I'm hoping for the best but fearing the worst. Many smaller bands and venues will not survive.

Looking at 2021 the calendar of gigs, tours and festivals seems to be filling up. Both rearranged shows and newly announced ones. Surprisingly the only tickets I'd bought were for a theatre show that is now scheduled for October 2021. Although it would be nice to have things to look forward too there is no way I would buy tickets at the moment.

Do you have tickets for shows next year? Would you buy any? Do you think it's realistic that we could have packed venues within a matter of months? What are your thoughts?

I have tickets for 2 2020 gigs rescheduled to May and June 2021. I'm not sure I'll fancy going even if one of them I am really desperate to see! Music venues are places where you are literally stuck to other people, it's near impossible not to be. I don't think they'll reopen for a while. It's very sad, going to see bands is one of my favourite thing to do and I feel for all the places that won't survive this and their staff.

Gigs were always a great place to forget about the troubles of the world and cut loose for a few hours. In an ideal scenario an effective vaccine is produced and next summer becomes a celebration of live music. Unfortunately I don't think this is realistic.

I am not a great fan of live music and would sooner see a musical at a theatre or an opera or classical concert. I hate live music in pubs when you can't hear yourself think let alone talk. Even as a teen/twenties I never went to gigs or discos or festivals etc.

However, I have got tickets to see Collabro at our local theatre in October 2021 and I can't wait!

I like theatre shows too and I've seen several musicals. Opera and classical aren't really my thing but it wouldn't do for us all to be the same. Fingers crossed for the Collabro show.

I wanted to go to a concert which meant to be this April. I did not buy the ticket, because I was thinking to go in Hungary, I was lucky because it had been postponed to November and again to next April....but I think unfortunately this virus will stick with us till the end of next year. Also the new gig falls on a Thursday...kind of weird.

Currently I do not look for tickets, just hoping they will make a new album and can listen that.

One good thing to come out of this situation is that with no touring lots of bands have been busy working on new material.

seasider71 yes, but when this ends all of them will want to tour and make money and we will be not able to go to all the gigs.

I do miss live music, it always brings people together and I love the atmosphere. I would love for things to get back to normal by next year but I'm not holding my breath
