I think it'll be more experiments of fire breakers, circuit breaks, tiers and lockdown. Here in Wales, we're due to come out of fire break Monday but the numbers aren't coming down

k4ren2006 Innit just!

Merthyr has the highest infection rate in the UK!

Carmarthenshire isn't too bad atm, but will probably get a lot worse.

TheChimp the aera of Merthyr that this is about is the gurnos estate. Most police officers are scared to go near there.

Ann1984 It doesn't surprise me at all.

They are a law unto themselves, so I doubt if they're listening to Covid rules.

TheChimp not by looks of it but feel for the people who are listening because not everyone is doing it

My own opinion is that once the current lockdown ends it will be back to the 3 tiers until after the new year. Infection rates will increase once more then back into lockdown or circuit breaker (what they should have done three weeks ago) by mid January.

Agree , back to 3 tiers (maybe different places depending on the figures ) . 10 day amnesty over Xmas /New Year for small family gatherings (8-10 people ? ) .

Sadly folks (mainly the young ) will go mad again over Xmas /New Year and we will need another month to 6 weeks lockdown in January / February to regain control of the numbers .

They probably add more tiers it was working where I am we was tier 3 from beginning and rates going down

Golfforall I disagree here.

A 10 day amnesty would defeat the whole object of a lockdown.

Can I have an amnesty for my birthday?

Or the wife's?

Or my parents?

We need to stop the spread now and going back to (nearly) normal for 10 days will be a disaster.

TheChimp I agree , bonkers to ease off when hopefully we'll be getting it under control by then.

it seems though that everyone wants to have family gatherings at Christmas . Generations mixing at absolutely the wrong time of year .

Can't see how it can be done TBH .

Golfforall It can't be done, but I don't think that a lot of people will adhere to the rules.

In Wales, we haven't got a clue what will be going on around Xmas.

We're leaving lockdown on Monday even though 3 Welsh counties have some of the highest infection rates in the UK (in the top 10 with Merthyr at number 1).

TheChimp Im just saying what i think will what happen not what should happen. I agree the virus wont take a Christmas holiday. But the pressure on the government will be so great they will open everything back up over Christmas then the virus will take hold again then back to lockdown/breaker/tiers. I had to shield in the first four months and ive been out just Five times since. I have a hospital appt due in 3 weeks which hasnt been cancelled yet, other than that i'll stay in. Long term i see things getting much worse but thats a discussion for another day

TheChimp I think that’s why furlough is going until March in preparation for a rise in Jan/Feb. What will it be like for a couple of weeks of Christmas with all age groups out and about. When Bojo announced lockdown on the Saturday the shops and pubs were rammed until lockdown so over Christmas it will probably be heaving and defeat the object of a lockdown, to keep people happy and he will trying to claw back all of support.

We will probably back in lockdown again in Jan/Feb after ALL AGE GROUPS gather at Christmas

Yes , Grandad and Grandma will be out on the town till all hours mixing with other Grandparents and bring the infection home to their responsible 20 year old grandchildren who have stayed at home watching "White Christmas" .

Golfforall no but schools being open and people going to work and people going to shops of all age groups can spread the virus but you just keep blaming the younger generation.

I know you think that's a clever but I see lots of old people refusing to wear masks. I also know older teenagers who are being responsible Golfforall

Imnotcheap Of course there are lots of responsible 18 -30 year olds and lots of irresponsible oldies , I have never denied that .

However you must be living in a dream world if you can't realise which age group is the least responsible in their behaviour .

Imnotcheap Exactly. It makes sense why the extended furlough until March. After the disastrous handling of the situation they want to gain support.

My 40th was in March, spent it in Paris...just before everywhere was locked down, but all my children have had to have covid parties, such a shame.

I think whatever is trending on social media is because one person takes something fictitious said by another and reposts it... 🙄

I think we will be locked down for 4 weeks, after that another eat out to help out scheme (or something similar) is released, then we will be put into lockdown again in March. Knowing how the government has been handling things, I wouldn't be at all surprised if this was to happen.

I think we will. After 4 weeks we will back to tier 3,as government know they can't take away Christmas and NY from us,and in January cases will start rise up again so we will go on lockdown .
