Looking for New Ideas for Christmas Day Breakfast
Ask a Question
Normally on Christmas day we have coffee, buck fizz and croissants as we don't eat lunch until later in the day. I don't want anything which is too much work, as I want to concentrate on opening presents with the family. Or too heavy, as we will be having a large meal later on.
I am looking for something a little different to change things up. Any suggestions ?
What about bagels with smoked salmon and cream cheese?
or a fresh fruit platter with natural yogurt?
gerrykelly25 Good call with the bagels. Might well have that myself. That and a bottle of Bucks Fizz
TheChimp simple to prepare but delicious! I think we will be having the same as you.
gerrykelly25 I am going to update my Tesco order for the 23rd now before I forget.
Great suggestion
Just a word of warning I did this a few years ago with Sainsbury's, it was the year we had a lot of snow and they just cancelled without any noticed, so it was a mad scramble to get enough booze as we had neighbours coming around for drinks TheChimp
Pancakes, just a simple recipe, doesnโt take long and you can have whatever you all want on them
We just have cereal to get it our of the way possible coffee start the baileys at tea time
Similar except muesli and banana for me, and am unlikely to drink until late evening although I enjoy a drink I have never even considered drinking alcohol at breakfast time, I sometimes wonder if those who do so have an alcohol problem.
It's always been doorstop bacon sandwiches but this year it's going to be American pancakes (cheat's mix Aunt Jemima's) and blueberries or bacon with tea or coffee. Buck's Fizz always goes with the present opening.
Your all gannets . We always just had tea / coffee. I don't think iv ever eaten breakfast on Christmas day. I want as much room as possible for my 3 course Christmas dinner.
I suppose it depends what time you eat Christmas dinner? We have ours about three or four pm, so need to eat something in the morning.
Glitterandgold That's the whole point! You stoke up your boiler so you can wait until late afternoon to have the 'biggie'. I'm impressed that you can go that long as I would definitely not have the energy or the sobriety to get through the presents, singing, games and tears to cook the dinner.
gerrykelly25 sunny101 See we spend all day & evening Christmas eve with family stuffing ourselves & drinking plenty of alcohol so come Christmas morning we are typically not at our best & our boilers are still pretty 'stoked' . We will tend to pick at left over buffet later in the morning if dinner is taking longer but generally try to serve dinner around 1-2 ish. I never eat breakfast anyways so Christmas is no different. If I did have breakfast I'd probably opt for poached/scrambled egg & smoked salmon tho. In fairness, thinking about it we aren't having our typical family gathering this year so I perhaps should consider a breakfast this year.
My favourite for once a year total indulgence is a bowl of trifle. My husband still has his porridge though, yuk.
We do pancakes usually โบ depending how we wfeel we will have eggs, bacon and American style hashbrowns with it to
