Loss of Points

Ask a Question

Just lost 640 points due to apparently previous posts not being OK with quality. But I had like 30 notifications about this? Is this normal? I must admit I'm a bit annoyed as some of the posts are extremely old!

I just had a quick look at your deals and I could see 3 posts with the same picture and none of the titles matched the picture. It could be this kind of thing that you're losing the points over.

I regularly get points taken back off me and also, people think it's fun to report my deals as expired when they are not. I can't seem to win, so I've stopped doing competitions and vouchers and still to deals.

I don't know what you have lost the points on, maybe give us a clue?

It's for vouchers and freebies. Literally all of them. It's crazy

dholly39 That explains a lot as the stuff I loose too are generally for that as well. The thing is, they don't reply to you with an adequate reason, that's what bugs me.

CaroleBallard Hi πŸ™‚ Sorry that some of the moderation reasons don't provide sufficient detail. We're working to improve them and add more details so that hopefully you're able to understand why a decision has been made in the first instance.

From having reviewed many moderation decisions myself - there usually is an underlying reason but the current system doesn't allow for it to be specified and so you end up with a generic "Please read the guidelines" notification which I can totally understand would be frustrating when you can't clearly see what in the guidelines you may have missed.

But even with more details they're still some that break the mould. For those we're looking to add an "appeal" option so if members don't agree with a moderation decision (we definitely make mistakes - as much as we try not to!) you can easily appeal the decision direct from LD (the website or the app). It should make it easier for you to work out what's going on and also make it easier for the LD team to get to and respond to your query.

I hope that shows some light at the end of the tunnel. Thank you for being part of LD and your honest feedback - it helps us improve! πŸ‘

Tom Kelsey Is it even possible to message you Tom as I have been fighting a decision that because I allegedly reported stuff that wasn't reportable, I have had the facility taken away from me to report posts.

I see a lot of stuff that does need reporting and the stuff that I did report was valid and I can't understand why you thought it wasn't? I've tried to get this facility back, emailing Neet, and the like and I'm just not able to get it reinstated. If I did make mistakes, is this a reason to withhold my ability to report?

I feel like you are punishing me, for me trying to do you a service?

I contribute a lot to this site. In the whole, I put my best on to it. I'm being punished and don't know why?

I've tried emailing you and all I get is that I shouldn't have reported the stuff because there was nothing wrong with it... well there was. I wouldn't have reported it otherwise.

I don't want to feel that way.

The only things I was reporting were things that had expired or repeated - and I've been trying to get it back since.

CaroleBallard Hey πŸ™‚ I'll speak with the team involved (many are on holiday at the moment so I'm afraid I can't promise a speedy resolution) but leave it with me - unfortunately I can't promise anything as I need to find out why/how it was removed first (and I'm currently Jon Snow - I know nothing!). We do have an awesome team I'm very proud of at LD though and, whilst mistakes happen, they're often on point so please don't unduly get your hopes up that it'll be restored. I hope that makes sense and sounds fair but if you want to add anything else about this please direct them to my email address (tomkelsey@latestdeals.co.uk) as specific account queries are best kept to one-on-one conversations (so I don't lose track and go loopy) rather than in the chat section πŸ‘

Hi CaroleBallard

I have a piece of advice for you, whenever you post competitions that require a payment, please specify this in the title.

For example: Win a MacBook (Purchase required) or Win a MacBook (Premium Entry) etc ... This is important to maintain a standard, and especially so that we do not receive multiple reports as "Not a Freebie", etc.

I hope it make sense.

Cheers

Hey OneeyedRaven πŸ™‚

Unfortunately sometimes duplicates (if that was the cause) don't get detected prior to posting or show up properly in search. The automated system will unfortunately never be completely flawless but we're hoping to improve search to be more accurate.

I'm very sorry to hear that an email from LD came off as shirty, if you still have it could you please forward it to me (tomkelsey@latestdeals.co.uk) to look into?

Many thanks and hope you've had a good Christmas!

Hi dholly39 πŸ™‚

We usually ask that people send any queries about moderation decisions to us via the contact form. That way we can make sure we handle requests in order (something that's increasingly important as more members join!) plus sometimes people prefer any feedback directly in private rather than publicly.

That said, I can sadly see some people haven't had the experiences I'd want them too with LD so happy to jump in and see if I can help out here.

As some other members have pointed out, I think the issue may be the clarity/details of some of your posts.

If you share a deal we ask that you:

  • Include an accurate title that summarises what the deal is (so that people can have an idea just by reading the title)
  • Include any extra details or information someone may need to know in the description.
  • Include the price (and, if available, the RRP or previous selling price)
  • If the automated system doesn't find a decent image, include an image.

With voucher codes we ask that:

  • The title includes what the discount is (e.g. 20% off jumpers, or free delivery)
  • And an image (perhaps just the brand's logo) if the automated system fails to find one.

Looking through your post history I think perhaps there's a misunderstanding as to what the title field is for - I think if you treat it as a summary of the post (and include all the key details) you'll have far fewer posts going into moderation.

That misunderstanding isn't your fault - communicating post guidelines and etiquette is something we want to improve. Our guidelines don't include everything and, even if they did, it would be unrealistic to expect people to read the whole thing. So we need to try and come up with a way to hopefully show people what the fields are for and examples of good titles or descriptions. If you or anyone has any ideas on this front I'd be very keen to hear them!

I think I've gone on a bit of a tangent, but to answer one of your original questions - we often don't review a post until it's reported to us. Once it is one of the team (or a lovely volunteer mentor) reviews the report and makes a decision. I completely understand a lot of posts going into moderation at once would be frustrating but it may be that the post slipped through the net at the time and was only picked up and reported by another member a week, or even a month, later. This loops back to us improving our guidelines so people know as much as possible from the get-go to reduce the risk of points being removed.

I hope that goes some way to explaining what's happened. We're actively working to improve (often the bottleneck isn't the idea of improving something but the time it takes to actually implement it - we've so many great ideas from members that we want to add to LD but sadly just little ol' me coding away trying to create them πŸ€“).

I feel like I've caused a bit of an issue with this post. I haven't meant to I was just confused.

I'm not 100% sure how I can describe my freebies of vouchers any better, so I may just leave doing them. And stick to deals πŸ™‚

Kelsey I reported this https://www.latestdeals.co.uk/deals/2-pack-regaine-scalp-foam-women-groupon-massive-36-cashback-quidco-

The prices are wrong now from when they posted it.

Why was I told it was a wrong report and my points taken off me?

Whoever posted it said it was Β£17.27 from Β£29.99

I reported it because that is wrong. The price is Β£26.99 from 49.99

So why have my points been taken off me?

Hey DebbieReed2020 welcome to LD πŸ™‚

This sounds like you may have perhaps selected the wrong reason for the report? If an old post (this one was shared a month ago) is no longer valid (e.g. the product is unavailable or has gone up in price) then we kindly ask that you report the post was expired / no longer available.

That said, I can certainly see why you may have reported it as having the incorrect price or tried to fix the post's details and so will award you back the points you lost now πŸ‘

As mentioned in some of my earlier comments, hopefully we can work on making this learning curve easier and more obvious!

Hi DebbieReed2020

If the post is older than 30 days, the correct option is Expired. We do not update offer prices as deals may be reposted after 30 days. The Missing Info option is for you to add information to the post, such as a missing image or price, not to update values.

I hope it makes sense.

Cheers

So I shared Four competitions.

They have run these before Christmas, but these are new ones.

https://sheerluxe.com/2019/11/chance-win-years-supply-professional-hair-products-worth-over-Β£350 is one of them.

Closing date: Sunday, 5 January, 2020 date on it.

The other person expired there's at Closing date: Wednesday, 18 December, 2019

The points where taken away as someone had shared it already - even though their competitions had expired!

This has happened with all three of their competitions, they have re released the comps.

Now it seems unfair that I've lost the chance of the points, for three competitions when it's they are different, competitions, but with the same prizes from the same person.

Those published previously had expired anyhow... So how come I have my point taken away?

I've just lost 40 points through no fault of my own

Kelsey

Also, why am I now getting

"Thanks for sharing your competition (The Entertainers Christmas Quiz). Your post is in review and will soon be checked over by a member of the team. Once it’s approved we’ll send you a notification to let you know.

on my competitions?

Hey DebbieReed2020 =)

If you click on the notification about your post being removed as a duplicate it will take you to the original post. For example, with the link you mentioned it was shared here: https://www.latestdeals.co.uk/competitions/win-fresh-christmas-beauty-bundle-worth-500-sheerluxe and still has 7 days left before it's expired. Hope that makes sense and clears up any confusion?

With competitions we only allow them to be shared once on LD as many have rules that disqualify you if you enter more than one time.

Re: Posts going into review - please don't be alarmed by this. We have automated systems that try and detect if something may be against LD's guidelines. They tend to lean on the cautious side so more often than not it incorrectly detects something as inappropriate. In those cases we review it by hand and once it's approved it goes live and you get the points πŸ‘

I'm more than happy to help with any general questions about how LD works or feedback as to how we can do things differently but if you do have further specific questions about your account please do use the contact form so that we can handle the queries properly. Unfortunately tagging me in the chat section isn't a reliable way to get help and I wouldn't want any questions to go unanswered!

Kelsey Yes but, that competition was dated to before Christmas, mine is after. If the original poster got it wrong how is that my fault?

As far as it's concerned, theirs was closed before Christmas and even if it IS the same comp and the competition is still open, so if it's still open surely it can be reposted as an ongoing competition?

Ie, this competition is open til the 7th Jan - NOT the middle of December.

DebbieReed2020 Hey I think perhaps there's a misunderstanding (whether that be me or you I'm not sure! πŸ˜„).

The post (https://www.latestdeals.co.uk/competitions/win-fresh-christmas-beauty-bundle-worth-500-sheerluxe) was shared a month ago, but is marked as ending (i.e. the competition finishes) 7 days from now. So the post still refers to a current and live competition? From what I can see you shared the same competition and so it was picked up as a duplicate of the one still live?

Does that clear things up? Apologies if I'm not understanding - if that is the case please do try and explain again and I'll see if I can get myself on the same page πŸ‘

Kelsey No, the person who posted it, closed it before Christmas.

I posted it, as there was no ongoing competition on Latest Deals running for it.

If at best the original post was closed, surely if I did pick up on it and post it again it should be allowed?

I'm not even convinced it was the same competition as they do them regularly, but even if it was - they had closed it PRE Christmas and I hadn't.
