Lost Postal Receipt
Ask a Question
Hi I sent a expensive parcel to Ireland but my son just posted it first class and my nephew hasn't received it yet I can't find my postal receipt that was before Christmas
Maybe speak to the post office you used to send the parcel, they may be able to track it on their system especially if it was sent via first class. You usually have a tracking number, perhaps the parcel was undelivered due to an unsuccessful attempt to deliver it ,maybe speak to your nephews post office too. I have had it happen to me before,a parcel was returned as not collected from the post office, good luck x
nina090976 I have spoken to my nephew someone has been in house everyday as his mum is there and has not been out she said I will ask at the post office tomorrow hopefully they can track it on their system I was just wondering if they could thats why I posted on this hopefully he gets it iam absolutely gutted about it thanks so much for your advice
kate1310 you are welcome, I hope it gets sorted for you. I sent christmas cards to germany in december, they arrived a few days ago best of luck x
nina090976 First class post is not trackable. You need to upgrade to either signed for which only tracks when it has been delivered, or a tracked service, which will show it on route.
sharpley yes,you are right.I usually send parcels on second class and monitor the delivery online with a reference number, hopefully in this case, the post office can be of help x
nina090976 yes you get a tracking number if you pay for that service. The postmaster will only put on the service that's asked for and paid for.
CarolSarich That does not mean it is tracked, otherwise what is the point of the post office offering a more expensive tracked service. I am a full time online seller with a Royal Mail account, I would like to think I understand the system and how it works.
I don't want to be a party pooper but if you sent it to Ireland ('Republic of' and not Northern Ireland) from the UK, it needed to go Airmail, not first class. If it went airmail and you didn't upgrade to tracked which is much more expensive, then there is no way of tracking it. You can make a claim with Royal Mail for a lost item if you have the receipt but if not, then it's a gonner. There is a slight possibility it may still be in the system and running later, fingers crossed for you!
The first thing I would do is check the post office website for any disruptions to the service in the area that you posted it to, with the increase in covid cases and the isolation issues, some parts of Ireland are experiencing some major delays.
Yes delays were happening and are still ongoing but Royal Mail have stated that most postings before Xmas have now been caught up.
but of course the poster could always check the tracking on her non tracked delivery any problems with this contact user pato for help
sharpley I can't say it won't get delivered, there's people all over the UK and Ireland who've only been getting mail every month ever since the Covid outbreak, regardless of what postage was used, and with the latest isolation rules from Omicron variant there's post offices all over the place being affected by staff reductions again, causing more delays, I'm just given a starting place for the O.P. in case she hasn't thought of it, as it could very well be delayed.
I honestly can't say it will be delivered either, but I'd hope it would turn up as it would seem that it was going to a family member, who would be less likely to scam her, now since the question, was relating to the Post Office receipt, there's basically no way of retrieving the Tracking Number without the receipt, unless of course you are like me, I sell some things on E-Bay and always pay for my Royal Mail Labels through E-bay and the tracking automatically adds to the purchase, you just click the tracking and get the info, but I don't think they did that.
So this might count as an honest answer to your question and an honest reply to kate1310s post.
Thanks everyone for your comments iam going to ask at the shop as I know the girl way going in regularly its worth a go I have learnt my lesson won't be possible expensive gift unless they are registered so gutted £600 down the drain
Thanks for the update on this, I'm glad the parcel turned up and you received the positive responses you were looking for, "I guess it must've been delayed" after all.
Go on holiday and still have to pit up with the nonsense that is Covid? Na.
Well I hope you didn't catch the stinky virus, but if you did, hope you're better now.
