I Would Love Paypal Added To The Rewards, What Do You Think?

Ask a Question

I use ebay a fair bit and whenever I have been able to claim a reward from somewhere in the past, that has paypal, then that's my first choice, as I can either buy something off ebay or transfer the money into a Bank account so it's ideal, would you find it useful yourself?

Well, Amazon credit is as good as real money. Although, if the creators of LD [ Tom and Kelsey ] then that's good news for you.

You're so right. Amazon vouchers are as good as real money or nearly so. It would still be nice to have PayPal as an option for those who would prefer this.

I am happy with Amazon, but I do agree that Paypal is more flexible, as you can do more with it. But I believe there will be more transaction fees required

Be careful what you wish or ask for - there could be income tax implications if actual money was paid into a PayPal account. It could be regarded as earnings and have to be declared to HMRC. Vouchers which can only be used for goods are a slightly different matter.

I would also assume that Amazon vouchers do not cost LD anywhere near the same amount as the face value.

davidstockport I can't see many people on PAYE setting up as self employed and submitting a tax return after earning £5 / £10 / £35 on here but it's technically correct! With the time it takes to make 50 quid on LD though, it'd probably be split between two tax years at least.

Well it's already paid into accounts from doing Surveys, I always chose the ones with paypal for a reward first, that was before I went brain dead with them all though!! 😂 x

JoTarpley i agree with you. On a survey website i redeemed a 40 pound PayPal option and did not pay any tax

alexkentwood1 Because you didn't pay any tax - doesn't necessarily mean you shouldn't have done.

It isn't up to the survey site to deduct any tax on the amount they pay you.

Amazon gift cards are far more likely to bring money back into LD as a business if you see an Amazon offer on here and click on it.

There may be other incentives to them as David has highlighted. Topcashback pay out more if you take it as an Amazon gift card so there's definitely some kind of incentive to use them as payouts.

With the size and frequency of rewards on here (something like 40p max a day in points), I don't reckon many people would struggle to spend the Amazon gift cards especially with them lasting two years.

Dennab......only two years? I was under the impression it was 10 years.

I must admit I am happy with Amazon gift cards as they have everything I have ever searched for even obscure things like gutter balls and curtain clips!

Lynibis You're right. Maybe it used to be two years. Either is long enough for me with the amount of money we're talking about though.

I like PayPal rewards because you can transfer money to a bank account but I would not like to pay a fee to receive the reward. I will some use for the Amazon gift card one day.

I like the amazon gift cards as I cam easily add them onto my account and I can save them up to buy something nice for my son that he wouldn't have gotten otherwise or they can be used by my husband when he buys his books etc and ot helps to save money elsewhere. I imagine that paypal would take a fee so you would end up getting less than your £5/£15/£35/£50 and then if you were to transfer it to your bank then it would another fee.

As much as I respect and trust PayPal I vote stick with Amazon vouchers. They have a long validity date and can be accumulated for a special purchase

I suppose if you have a PayPal account this is a reasonable request but I don't, never will have, and therefore am happy with just Amazon rewards as there is always something I want or need.

Morning 🙂

There are potentially new rewards in the pipeline (we're looking into ways we can offer other gift cards).

Paypal isn't an option in the methods we're exploring at the moment but is certainly something we could look into in the future 👍

I am totally fine with Amazon vouchers, however, I can see why some folks would want the option for a Paypal payment. Dennab i agree with you too, LD can always make something back with the deals over here.

Or maybe more online vouchers for other places such as New Look, JD sports and river island instead of just amazon.

I just wish members would apply their minds to posting ONLY good deals rather than what they can harvest from the site . 90% of the so called deals posted cannot be regarded as anything approaching a deal even to the poster ! Sad but that is what this site has become . 😢.

It shouldn't be about repaying compliments , it should be about only "liking" good deals . Even then not the first 5 seen (just to harvest points !) .

I'm afraid your suggestion would just lead to mini cliques all "liking " each others "non deals" and further skew the already imperfect system .

Just remove points for "liking" completely , then members would only " like " good deals . Not the first 5 they come across to get the points .

JoTarpley ( or is it Abed ) You have lost me ! I don't click and paste (like many) I describe the item "accurately " and state why it is a good deal . Do you not understand 9cm diameter ? Do you not understand 20 (the quantity) ? Do you not understand supermarket pot plant ?

They are plastic plant pot saucers (can be used for any plants ! ) , fully described (including the size and quantity ) ! What's so difficult to understand ? 🙄 For your info they are good for any plant pot from 1 inch succulent ceramic pot to 3" (1 litre ) pot . I've measured them - have you ?

https://www.latestdeals.co.uk/deals/20-x-coloured-9cm-dia-plant-pot-saucers-699-amazon-

Anyone else having difficulty understanding what I did think was a fully described , simple , harmless post ?

Thank you for your feedback. When we first created the notification system, there was a community discussion about the wording of "Someone liked your deal". It was decided that keeping it anonymous was in the best interest of avoiding cliques, or members liking each other's posts out of friendship, rather than because the deal itself is good. We found that other deal communities had fallen foul to this problem, where only deals from select users ever reached the top because they would vote for each other (regardless of the deal quality). By keeping it anonymous, deals from a variety of users have equal chance of climbing on Latest Deals 👍 However, I do agree that it'd be nice to see, and also some additional stats on how many people found your deal helpful etc.

I thought its a saucers for my pot plants and its a big saucers in the photos but when I received it, even the smallest pot I have cannot accomodate it. Is this a toy saucers because they are very very small. Its a joke.

JoTarpley Yes I read that - just the one review which said the saucers were too small ! I presume that like yourself they can't understand 9cm diameter ?

Of course they are generic Chinese made saucers so I looked at those too (£8.99 on Amazon and EBay ) - Did you ? Identical and well reviewed . https://www.amazon.co.uk/Hemoton-Plastic-Succulent-Colorful-Flowerpot/dp/B089NNG21M/ref=psdc_4224875031_t2_B08DKQ9W5R

Might want to tell Abed that is the way to find the best deal on generic Chinese items on Amazon Marketplace ? Identical item 25% cheaper !

Just because one reviewer doesn't read or understand the size (like yourself ? ) means the reviewer is a bit stupid , it clearly states 9cm diameter ,what did they expect ? What would you expect ?

I'm afraid you are looking rather silly , they are plant pot saucers with the size clearly stated - Is that too difficult to understand ?

Get out of bed the wrong side this morning ?

JoTarpley /Abed They are 9cm plant pot saucers , Doh ! obviously not just for succulents . any plant pot with a base under 9cm . Be no good for my Aloe Vera plants which are massive in 15" pots (but are succulents ) , ideal for typical plant pots which have a 6.5cm diameter base .

Tom JoTarpley is being accused of having two accounts, although the accuser edits like a Tasmanian Devil...... in this case after your comment was posted or you would've seen it.

Clearly, the accuser has already had a go at 'A'. Take a look at the comments on the deal - is this really the tone LD encourages? Why he doesn't use the contact form like the rest of us? Sadly, this is another chat that will be shut down because of one stroppy member - it really isn't fair.

I don't think I said before but if they started paying out money as cash (including PayPal), it would have tax implications. Fast forward to 2030 and I reckon Jeff Bezos will be king of the world by the time I earn another voucher on here anyway. All hail King Bezos. We pay our £7.99 a month to you, our saviour. Thank you for your efforts in allowing us to ditch local businesses and ensuring that all of your drivers have a bottle to pee in during their unrealistic delivery runs. Everything is now paid for in Amazon vouchers, the new world currency.
