A Man Has Made £ 3,000 in Two Hours Selling Toilet Roll.

In the News

Hi all hope you are all well. Just been reading that this man brought toilet roll then sold it it on for a lot dear then normal . When I read it it made my blood boil. How can people do this to one another. I was brought up to help people and share things. Because at the end of the day we are all in the same boat. Image Times are hard. What do you make of it.

Argh this really annoys me! Only buy what you need and do not make money off others! What has annoyed me recently is people buying baby formula in case there is a shortage of milk so that they can still have tea in the morning! Or people buying nappies and formula to sell on at horrendous prices! It absolutely sickens me

MrsCraig I hadn't realised about the baby formula until I spoke to my niece earlier. Her son was prem at Xmas and has taken till now to reach 8lbs and she has been unable to get his milk. Fortunately a friend nearly 200 miles away has got some and posted it. Ridiculous and totally heartless.

Janhrrs I can understand how worried she must have been. My son was born at term but it took him 3 months to put on a pound in weight and formula was a must for us! I'm so glad she got some and hopefully her son is doing well. My son isn't on formula anymore but I saw some in our local Asda so let my friends with babies know. It is just ridiculous.

I don't think it is fair for the vulnerable people who go to shops and there is no stock and then are forced to pay more than double.

I just remembered one seen from titanic movie where staff member threw money back on man's face and said your money cant save you. These people think about it too. If they are not stopping to create this artificial crisis one day they would have money but nothing on shelves to buy. What they are going to so with money then?

I was literally about to say the same thing, I can’t believe people are buying it off this person! I live in Birmingham and a pharmacy chain round here called Jhoots were charging £6.00 for paracetamol and £19.99 for calpol!

AliceBell64468 That is almost racketeering - lack of toilet rolls is at the worst an inconvenience, but overcharging for medications, to those who need them, is almost criminal.

In some countries people doing things like that, in times of war or other crises would be shot.

Dennab I disagree IN MY OPINION anyone who pays over the odds, especially for a non essential item is STUPID. Toilet rolls are not essentials mankind survived for thousands of years before they were even thought of, and even in my lifetime there was a majority of people who never bought them.

I also think that those who think not having toilet paper might increase the threat Covid-19 poses, are stupid too. I also think (I think a lot☺) that anyone who lives in a country that exports more toilet paper than it imports, is remotely likely to suffer a toilet roll shortage, is STUPID too.

I personally have two toilet rolls remaining (bought last year), this afternoon I could have got more but decided to leave them to hopefully prevent some STUPID person going into complete meltdown if they couldn't get any.☺

Don't believe it ! Is this on "social media" - well I have very old news for you -there is no shortage of toilet rolls "fact " !

If anyone is stupid enough to pay inflated prices for bog rolls then perhaps they deserve to be fleeced ?

Sadly it is the intellectually challenged of the "snowflake generation " who are gullible enough to believe what they read on social media and act on such misinformation - I do despair for some .

Go into any supermarket next week and stock and prices will be back to normal - its just a logistics issue as anyone with half a brain must surely know !

Dennab We have to go off what we are told when an article referred to isn't linked to. The person asking the question said toilet rolls were sold for more than a fair price, and didn't even say where she read it.

I can not believe any would do This but supply and demand of people are stupid enough to purchase items at inflated prices it will always happen.

95% of loo roll is made here. They were even showing you the warehouses full on the news.

Chemists are not selling baby milk to the elderly as they said it's mainly them buying for their tea!

New flash cows need milked twice a day, there will always be milk

There is now shortage of sanitised in hospitals!

I am so angry with it all.

But who but a stupid person thinks they need to prove "supposed intelligence" with a bit of paper? ☺

I read about it earlier today and he is just one of many who are trying to get rich quick. Well, a reality check in the near distant future will show that he didn’t earn very much and won’t have many friends. Some shops who have inflated prices have been shamed and I can only imagine them getting a backlash. Poor judgement

I thought from what you said that you'd read the article. The posters on this topic merely say that people who unfairly profit from others (regardless of what the obscure article said) are the dregs of society, that's not being easily led. It's basing an opinion on the information available.

I read about this on the daily mail. the guy doing it is a DJ who says he's out of work due to all the cancellations, so he thought up a loo roll scheme to make money to pay his bills, so he said.

Hi, I do not feel this story was about someone overcharging excessively. The price was £4 for 9 rolls or £15 for 45 rolls. He bought from a wholesaler, not stores. The DJ and his friends have lost their jobs. I wish he would come to a car park in my area and I would happily pay a little more to cover his costs and make a little profit as it would be helpful at this time. I would gladly welcome a van turn up selling bread, fruit and veg too tbh 😍
