I hadn't heard about it either and live near Manchester, I suspect the incident referred to was last March in Bolton. (The trial is in Manchester) Although Bolton is in Greater Manchester (a metropolitan county) it is not part of Manchester.

If my suspicion is correct this might help others.https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-manchester-55085677

Hadn't read about it, but crime unfortunately doesn't stop even if the government makes it mandatory to stay home 24/7.

Over in U.S., Houston things are a lot worse in comparison. Every day something horrible happens. I guess that's one way to look at it.

If my suspicions are correct (see above) this incident (no one seems to have read about) had absolutely nothing to do with the lockdown - it happened on the day before the first lockdown.

Yup I've seen it and I think she should have been done for murder

She is being tried for murder, it's up to a jury to decide whether her plea of manslaughter (which she's pleaded guilty to) is accepted. If it isn't then the verdict will be "Guilty" (of murder).

Leeann I wasn't aware that the prosecution withdrew the "murder" charge. (I hadn't seen the news today) But it's probably better that it's manslaughter (she's pleaded guilty to) which will probably mean she's never released, whereas if it had been "murder" she'd have probably been released within 15 years https://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2020/dec/04/judge-orders-jury-to-clear-woman-of-murdering-emily-jones-in-bolton

I was shocked when I saw this on the news. To kill an unknown child. She obviously has a loose screw and needs to be locked away for life.
