New film being released in January and I can't wait. Was so disappointed that Robert the Bruce was on Netflix and not shown in cinemas. I love historical films. I can disappear into them with no guilt or pain whereas modern films serve only to remind me of the disgusting horrible world of crime, unfairness, genocide, murder, war and general unpleasantness of life today. We don't seem to have learned anything over the last centuries and still man's inhumanity to man never ceases to amaze me. Obviously there are exceptions, children's films, comedies and rom coms.
I was just about to ask if you had seen the new one about Robert the Bruce! We watched it the day it was realised and thought it was fantastic! Very good portrayal of him and very historically accurate! I hate films that are about a historical event but then get it all wrong!
Yes, it was pretty accurate, I read a trilogy of books about him. Not all Hollywood shine like Costner's Robin Hood or Gibson's Patriot. I wasn't sure about Chris Pine playing the lead but thought he was brilliant.
