Ask a Question
How has everyone been coping with mental health and anxiety in lockdown? Have you got any tips to share which helped you to cope? Some days I find it hard to get motivated to do anything...I did a lot of decluttering etc when it just started but now it starts to wear me down.
I have suffered from anxiety for years, and lockdown hasn't helped. But I will say that I've learnt how to decorate and I'm doing the whole house. It does wear me down, but then I'll take a break and watch Netflix and chill, until I'm ready to continue.
I love listening to audio books/amazon had a free trial...theres Ant middleton, lots of self help books available,Kevin Hard is great too..I just love listening how to stay positive and to put it into practise x
Calm is a great app .. I would highly recommend for anyone suffering from anxiety or depression or just want to have some peaceful time
Remember that right now you just have to get through the day, you don’t have to do something super productive every day so if that’s all you did was get up and have some nice food today, well done.
Also, keep in touch with friends and family, stay connected. And don’t be afraid to talk about how you’re feeling.
lornaae I'm currently 7months pregnant... so I been worrying if I would have to go back to work. About my maternity leave, if I'll have a job to go back to... also I been trying to homeschool & entertain my 6yr old which hasnt been easy. Also I'm worried that probably I gained too much weight with this pregnancy because I barely left the house... mostly I remind myself to take just one day at a time... otherwise all the things I worry about threatens to implode on me.. I been trying to do some crosstitching, to read few books, meditate... but some days I just feel like I'm failing. I constantly feel like I'm failing as a mother.
jurgita0712 no you’re not failing, you’re doing great. Motherhood is the hardest job in the world, be kind to yourself and give yourself credit for all that you are doing.
I have recently started to focus on my breathing and being present in the now. Trying to stop worrying about the past and the future by focusing on my breathing now and trying to make myself understand I don’t need to worry about tomorrow and I should focus on the now as this is the only time we are actually living.
Breathing as basic as it sounds is really important to help you calm down and refocus youre mind.
Going outside when you start to feel stir crazy.. even if it’s just for a 10 minute walk around the block to just have some fresh air and a change of scenery
Online yoga and exercise classes, the calm app, running, always having a book on the go, and some kind of spiritual practice have been helpful for me, but I still have rough days where I hardly do a thing. I'm now anxious about post-pandemic life, very hard to take each day at a time...often feel like I'm failing.
I walk, I'm chunky anyway so it has other benefits, but a nice walk at a meadow really clears my head. I've taken up weight lifting as well, a little challenge for myself sets me up for a 12 hour shift
