What is a Mentor?
Mentors are members of Latest Deals who help guide others and contribute to the smooth running of the community.
They may be volunteers or paid members of the team. On this page, you'll learn:

The Mentor Code of Conduct- Always be positive, constructive and helpful
Changes, edits and updates must be explained in the comments. Members should be encouraged to participate more, not less. Examples:
- "Hi Deepak, I have updated your post to give extra details."
- "Hi Kelsey, I have just changed the picture to a clearer one for you."
- "Hi Tom, I have added the delivery information"
- "Hi nemosays, thank you for posting this voucher code. Unfortunately, in this case it had already been posted. To avoid duplicates, I've just marked this as expired. Thank you again and I look forward to your next one."
- "Hi SteveMate, thank you for sharing this voucher code. A short while ago, the Latest Deals community decided not to accept promo codes. For this reason, I've marked your post as expired. Any questions, please just ask."
Write an explanation for your changes
As the examples above show, changes need to be explained. Latest Deals has many unofficial guidelines, and our own culture. New members won't know any of them, so it's important to explain all changes. Again, the most important part is to be positive, constructive and helpful.
"How can I help this member to contribute more?"
The over-arching guideline is to act in a way that helps members contribute more. Positive thumbs-up 
, never thumbs-down.
Things Mentors Can NOT Do
Mentors do not have access to, nor have the capability of the following actions:
- Permenantly delete anything
- Ban members
- Delete or edit comments
- See profile information or any personal data
You have the power to override a Mentor
Unlike other websites, on Latest Deals you have the power to override a Mentor. Every change and edit a Mentor makes is logged. If you feel a Mentor has made a mistake, gone too far, or you just don't like what they've done, you can email us privately and in confidence. Deepak, Kelsey and Tom will review the situation and can revert the post or page to your original message.

What does a Mentor do?
Mentors are here to help you enjoy Latest Deals more.
- They can see the list of
flagged reports, expire requests, duplicates and more. - They can improve titles, images, descriptions and tags to give more information (they cannot change the URL).
- They can expire posts and move them into moderation (but not delete them)
Who are the Mentors?
You can identify a Mentor by a badge or label next to their name that says "Mentor".
Are Mentors Paid?
Some Mentors are volunteer members of the community and are not paid. Others are colleagues of the company and are paid. If a Mentor has published a deal and it is a paid partnership, we will write at the very top of the post, "Latest Deals has worked with XYZ company to bring you this deal." This is so it is super clear what is sponsored and what is not.
Nice one guys. Think this is great - better than the other site where Mods have stupid powers and it just ruins everything. I like that you've obviously focused on making it positive, not just deleting and banning for no reason.
So they'll be like Power Users or sub-Moderators at best. It's a good idea, yeah.
Nice to see that new members are joining LD every day, but a shame that the gaming section is still so ever dry with only the usual users posting deals, including me. :-/ The other UK deals website has the whole system playing in their favour so even those who despise it, will still use it because they feel it's the best out there. I get that, they just end up feeling numb after all.
If the Mentors would like to guide me toward more Boozy McBooze Face deals I'd be very grateful. Good stuff chaps, it's fab to see the website having grown so much. Top marks.
clareemckenzie I told Tom to change my avatar pic to that of Wonderwoman, but he won't let me...hahahaha!
As you may know I'm a recent member,daft as a brush when it comes to computer links etc, I thank Rockman for saying nice to have new member . But how do I change my "big purple R" into a pic? If download required,i've not learnt that yet,(and yes, I'm over the over age!!!!) x

Happy to announce clareemckenzie is our third wonderful Mentor!
Clare joined us in November 2016 and has been a great support in our competition and freebie sections. She's also been a voluntary admin of our Facebook Group (along with others) since the beginning and helped grow it from 0 - 10,000 members in just two months.
If you have any questions you can tag clareemckenzie and she can help. Of course, there's also myself Tom, Kelsey, Deepak, SteveMate, and nemosays who also have Mentor powers (the ability to expire, move something into moderation, change pictures etc.).
Thank you again to everyone for your support - it's not just Mentors but all of you. Whether it's flagging, marking as expired, finding duplicates and sending us messages when the site is down - it's excellent.

The community has grown from acorns to oaks in a relatively short space of time and it's been bags of fun. I have loved every minute.

clareemckenzie It really is! I have saved loads of money because of people sharing deals and vouchers, I enter the competitions that other people post up and have been given lots of great advice. I really enjoy checking the website everyday!

Behind-the-scenes, she has been one of our most active Groundskeeper Willies (if you have the badge, you'll understand!).
Latest Deals now gets 2,000+ posts, 4,000 comments and 3-4,000 new members every week. That's a lot to watch. While Kelsey has built some great systems to help, nothing beats human brain power!
We rely more than ever on our brilliant Mentors, and yummyyetis brings a keen eye for detail to the table.
