Milk or Water First?

Ask a Question

this is going to have some divided opinions but when you make your tea do you put the milk or water in first? I put the milk In first so you can actually see how much milk you’re putting in

Water, always water! If I do it the other way around it just feels weird to me.

I dont drink tea, but if I’m making it for someone I always put water in first so you know how much milk to put in, but with coffee, milk comes first so you don’t burn the granules

Has to be water, if you put milk in first it congeals in the tea bag and you dont get the full flavour of the tea. Ok for those that like milky tea but not for us that like a proper cuppa

I put water in first when I make my tea, I pour enough milk in until my tea turns a light brown

Water, and it has to brew deeply first before I even get the milk out, so then it will taste like tea rather than flavoured milk

I put water in first and then milk at the end. So I know how much milk to put in.

I‘m allergic to milk, so only water for me! If I make it for other people though I put water in first.

If you put the milk in first, the tea bag doesn’t really infuse in the same way and it tastes weak. So water first, always, for me.

Putting the milk in first to see how much goes in is strange because you could just add the milk little by little to gauge the right amount.

If your tea is already pre-infused and in the teapot, then it doesn't really matter.

I understand what you mean but I don’t taste the difference I just find it easier to put the milk in first

I always put water in first, otherwise I wouldn't get the correct colour of tea.

I don't normally add milk to my tea, but when I make it for someone else I put the milk in last ☕
