Millionaire Avoids Jail When He Refused to Tear down His Garden Extension

In the News

When i first read this i thought here we go again , another victim of the local council being made to tear down something he spent a fortune on

Then i read how big his extension was, 10,000sq/ft including a pub, casino and bowling alley , all built without planning permission in his garden

Why do people with money think they can get away with this sort of blatant ignorance of the law ?

That is slightly bigger than a man ‘cave!’ His garden structure is bigger than most peoples homes, by a huge amount. Why on earth he thought he could flout the law.

We have to abide by the law and so should he. If he doesn’t demolish it maybe the council should use it as temporary multi accommodation for those in need.

Good idea P, but then they would be breaking their own rules allowing it to exist without planning permission, opening the doors for others to appeal against their illegal builds

telmel I appreciate that but the millionaire accountant wouldn’t want to share his site with down & outs. Bet he would immediately knock it down.

That's crazy! Makes you wonder what else has been built without planning permission and has gone unpunished due to privilege.
