Mince Pies Are Already Hitting the Shelfs

Ask a Question

So I spotted some Mince Pies in Iceland today.

Is it not too soon to sell Mince Pies? Don't get me wrong I love to eat them but I feel that they are out in shops too early!

Have you spotted some Mince Pies in your shop?

I have spotted some mince pies in our local shop! I personally don't see a problem with it because I think if people want them then they will enjoy them and if you don't want them yet then it doesn't affect you.

In one respect yes this does seem a little early. Yet a mince pie is a nice pie and I wish I could get them at other times of the year. The problem really is that they start selling the pies yet you don't see the brandy laced cream in the shops which makes them extra special.

Seen mince pies for sale in Asda and Sainsbury’s. I wish some seasonal food was available all year round, but I agree with jmsonl - where is the brandy butter!

Things become commonplace and not special when you can have them any time of the year. I can remember as a kid so looking forward to hot cross buns at Easter, strawberries in June, mince pies never before December, new potatoes in spring and yummy old potatoes baked in jackets for guy fawkes night.

Now nothing is special and I find I no longer want or need the things I can have all year.

I spotted some bakery ones in Sainsburys. I don't really like them until my sister made them from scratch, much prefer them

I know I will sound like the Grinch but when they are available so early it takes away much of the novelty. Having said that I look forward to eating mince pies throughout December because I never seem to want on on the big day - too full. 😀

I'm the same with anything Christmassy on display any time before December - just takes the magic away.

I saw a Christmas Tree in a pub the other day. I know they do it to grab attention so you book there for Christmas, but it just puts me off going - far too early!

I love mince pies! But I also like that they’re only available during a certain time of the year to stop me from eating so many!! It’s way too early!

My local Sainsburys have had them on the Bakery shelves for the past two weeks now £1 for a 4pk , and I must admit I have bought a few packs, as I love mince pies, especially the ones from the Bakery counters.

And if you think it's early for Mince Pies my local Asda are selling HOT Cross Buns,
