Mis-Using the GLITCH Term
Feedback
There are a few users mis-using the ‘glitch’ term. It is very annoying. Just to be clear- a ’glitch’ is when there is a pricing error. There are alot of people posting deals where they are clearly marked sales and offers, and marking them as glitches. There needs to be more filters when glitches are posted. There should be certain criterias to make something into a glitch
It depends really....I shared like a deal Adidas shoes for £8.60 and Boss towels were also cheap in the sale in the past, so I shared like a deal, but they were more likely glitches, because you can not get those items that cheap right now....but also I can tell those prices were not because of error.....
Yes I get you. But I think glitch should be used when there is an error? Another word for misprice maybe? When something is intentionally very cheap, it should perhaps be labelled as: “ABSOLUTE BARGAIN!!!!!!” Or “AMAZING PRICE!!!!!” or something along them lines. Capitals and !!!!! Will do the job!!! Also, lately, a few members have been posting deals of sales etc & it clearly says ‘Sale’ and the promotion all over the website, but to click-bait; they are saying ‘glitch’.
I just think it’s sooo unneccesary & for us glitch-hunters it’s very annoying
I think that it might be hard to weed out deals from glitches by an algorithm and so it probably has to be done after it is posted. You could report them and people would then get the message (and you would get points for reporting). I know that isn't ideal though because things aren't always noticed for a while.
Yes, after it’s posted. As it would be impossible beforehand. And yeah it’s not even a matter of reporting. Just as mentioned in my above reply ^ ...it’s the click-bait that’s annoying If someone is genuinely looking for glitches and finds a Sale instead, which is clearly marked on the website and is promoted- that can’t be a glitch- no matter how good it sounds. The conclusion is, if something is intended to be reduced, and a certain price, it cannot be labelled as ‘glitch‘
Sadly I think Jaycee5 is right, it's (at first thought at least) going to be very difficult to decide if a deal is/isn't a glitch automatically so the best we can do is to perhaps better explain what a glitch is/isn't (this thread is helpful for that!) and also use the moderation system to report things so they can be altered/changed after they've been posted
On second thought we could perhaps only allow "glitch" to be in the title if it's been pre-approved/checked by a mentor that it is actually a glitch but then that might slow down glitches appearing on LD and, as they often disappear very quickly, that might not be an ideal solution?
Yes I agree. I think the purpose of this thread was to underline what ‘glitch’ means lol I think it‘s just very unneccesary when the term is mis-used. There are all sorts of people on here. Some are freebie hunters, some are competition hunters, some are bargain hunters, & some are glitch hunters. To the ones not bothered about glitches, it won’t matter, however if someone is glitch watching, I’m sure you can understand how annoying it is when the term is constantly mis-used? Either because of ignorance or just blatantly click-baiting. & yes I agree that because of the nature of glitches and how quickly they run out, it’s impossible to filter them beforehand, but perhaps if people used the tags properly and titled their deals accordingly, then everything would properly fall into place.
So if someone posts a ‘glitch’, with the best of intentions of helping fellow bargain hunters find, erm, a bargain, they deserve to be ‘reported’, so they ‘get the message’? Don’t you think that’s a bit harsh? Its not like anyone would intentionally post something as a glitch when they know its really not and even if it’s not really a glitch then if they think it might be then it must be a good deal for them to think it might be! I’d rather something said glitch and drew my attention to it than didn’t and I missed it - and what’s the worst that can happen? People get a bargain? And as Kelsey said, it can always be changed by the mods or founders if needed, I’m pretty sure the OP wouldn’t mind. I came here from another deals site about a month and only created my login yesterday as lirked what I saw and wanted to join in with the community but seeing this along with some downright rude and nasty comments that some people (some quite frequently) leave on others posts makes me feel so sad as it’s really not necessary - just be constructive and help each other, we’re all here for the same reason!
Reporting things as being in the wrong place isn't a punishment. I didn't really mean 'get the message' in that way but I can see that it sounds a bit like harsh. I can't say that I have seen any nasty posts but the moderators of this site do try to keep it friendly.
It's not an issue for me (I don't follow the deals or glitches posts) but it is obviously bothering some people and reporting it will only lead to a message that it has been or needs to be moved to another place. Having the word glitch in the title seems to be a reasonable solution.
First of all, could I please ask you to tone down your rude manner of speaking. From reading your first few sentences, I can guess that you are new to this. Please may I introduce you to Latest Deals.... a community of FRIENDLY & helpful (most of the time!) bargain hunters who are respectful, help each other out, & don’t abuse each other This chat function is for us to have discussions and it is a way of interaction with other members of the site. Any critisicm which is constructive of course, is welcome, & no one minds chipping in with their two pennies worth- HOWEVER, there is a manner of speaking, & unfortunately yours isn’t the correct one. If someone posted a thread & if you can’t be nice about it when you comment, you don’t deserve to even be listened to.
& regarding you saying “it’s not like someone will post a glitch when they know it’s not...” Believe me, there are loads of people that do. Or else I wouldn’t have commented on this thread
& this chat and other downright rude & nasty comments??? I’m sorry but you may have seen it on the wrong website, or you may be extremely sensitive. There is no negativity on this site. I’ve hardly ever seen any rudeness. We’re a friendly bunch, so let’s keep it that way ey!
jayy I think he just misinterpreted 'get the message' which I thought it was obvious was a bit tongue in cheek. Unfortunately, social media being what it is, people will sometimes take things literally and take offence where none was given
Now that Kelsey has been made aware of this issue, hopefully it will just be brought to an end.
Hey guys
We do our best to keep everything friendly on LD. Of course, sometimes people lose their temper, have a bad day or things get misinterpreted.
I'm very glad you have had a positive experience with LD jayy On the other hand, I'm sorry OompaLoompa if you've seen negativity. If you ever spot anything you think isn't appropriate please do drop us a message.
I'd say it's very plausible (and probable) that no-one in this thread meant any harm or offence by anything they said. Constructive discussion is always encouraged and that does mean views will differ. That's okay! Everyone's welcome to disagree with another's point of view. As long as personal insults and name-calling are avoided we'll hopefully stay in the clear!
Hi, I think that it may have been me that started this as I said ‘glitch’ on a post and jayy was not very happy that I had done so (and I got a for the first time!) I thought it might be at the time and it wasn’t posted as click-bait at all, I was just trying to be helpful and I didn’t want anyone not to see it. Anyway sorry for upsetting anyone (although jayy said started post but it was aay123 which confused me a bit!), I feel really bad now! Edit - I’ve just amended the post too!
Definitely don't feel bad! I myself often struggle to decide if something is a glitch or a genuine (very good!) promotion. There are no hard and fast rules
