Missguided on brink of collapse after 'leaving suppliers millions out of pocket'

Missguided is said to be close to calling in administrators, with insolvency specialists Teneo in line to handle the process. A winding up petition was issued against Missguided on May 10 by supplier JSK Fashions

I just thought I would post this as there are presently many Missguided deals on LD, so this is a warning to beware as I would hate any of you to be caught out!

I have never liked Missguided. I don't like their clothing, the quality isn't great and it is expensive too. I hope no one gets caught out.

MrsCraig I'm too old to have bought anything that they sell but I don't want anyone losing money over this. Awareness is everything.

tumblespots never too old! I just don't like the style of their clothes. Agree that awareness is everything.

I was in Asda last night and had a look around the clothes and noticed that they were actually selling Missguided products.

pato I didn't know that. In that case Asda may be one of the suppliers that has been left out of pocket! At least they will have some product to sell to recover some of the losses.

pato I was on the Asda website yesterday and noticed that they sold missguided clothes, I didn't realise until then. Still didn't like any of them.

tumblespots You might have a good point there but o be honest, I thought that the Asda clothes were probably better value.

MrsCraig My missus said pretty much the same thing about their clothing range.

pato I haven't been to Asda for a while as there aren't many large shops around here, you have to travel, and there are absolutely none in the village itself.

I havent bought much from Missguided apart for a couple of pair of jeans. The quality of them was low and they stunk or urine. I washed them several time and they still stunk.

Chelsea0121 That's terrible, it reminds me of changing in Dorothy Perkins years ago, many of the clothes used to stink!

You would think they would be made to warn customers atleast, their website looks completely normal. It shocking, they nearly made the suppliers bankrupt too by the sounds of it.

Midnightflower dont think this is the first time they have been in trouble financially they have a docu series type show on Netflix and one of staff said a few year back they lost millions.

Chelsea0121 It's amazing how these companies are allowed to pop back up after leaving so many companies out of pocket in their wake. There is something fundamentally wrong with the way businesses are run in this country.

I had an order from misguided come the other day which was obviously a customer return that hasn’t been checked just sent back out. The dress was small for its size and I can imagine the original purchaser was bigger in the bust area than me and had broken the button part and left the belt out from the return. They were great with refunding me but it 100% put me off ever ordering from them again!

Michelle1991 Unfortunately customer service seems to be something of the past these days, very glad that you had a full refund. It would put me off too!

Seems strange they are running a comp on Instagram to win £2000 cash (kindly brought to my attention by another LD member). I wonder if the winner will actually receive their prize!

Lynibis I assume they will either be magnanimous and pay up (if they haven't actually collapsed) OR offer them product instead to offload it??

Good news. Mike Ashley’s Frasers Group has bought Missguided’s brand out of administration for £20 million in the first distressed takeover since his son-in-law took over the running of his empire.

Pjran That certainly sounds like good news as yesterday I heard that they had gone under but things can change very quickly 👕

Pjran That's good news? Well, for the employees it is.

Say hello to £5 shipping (and maybe even C&C) for light-weight clothes. 😑

ChelsieLou90 Same here, I went onto the website yesterday and everything I liked was only available in a size 6. Not gunna complain at a sale as big as 70% off though but looks like you can only benefit if you are a tiny size.

I shall be going to my local Asda to see if Missguided is stock there and see how much they charge compare to George's clothing.

I had a look and there was only about 4 things that I actually liked and would wear. I've never been that big a fan of Missguided.

Oh blimey looks like they could be in trouble. This is why I’d never want a big company. Just happy to have my own little side hustle.
