Missing out on Great Comps.
Competitions
So many good comps are only Twitter, Facebook etc. and it's so annoying not being able to enter. I know that is down to me not wishing to be involved with social media and I can understand smaller businesses using fb as a platform, but some of the bigger ones are actually going into great detail about the comp on their website and then saying you can only enter via social media.
I have been on fb twice and both times deleted as it was such an invasion into my life and privacy. I also realise I am in the minority and will get no sympathy lol!
You could always make an account and just use it for entering competitions. You can put the privacy settings so people can't find you and that way you would only get notifications from the comps you had entered. I only really use my twitter and instagram to enter competitions
Well you can always set your privacy settings and not upload any personal photos. Problem solved.
That does not solve the problem for me. I am anti social media and do not wish to be part of it, however I respect others rights to buy into it.
deepcore well as I said, I fully respect others rights to be part of it but for me personally...............it wasted a lot of my time that I should have been using doing things more worthwhile...............I don't need to know every tiny aspect of the lives of my 'friends' and definitely don't need to see pics of their meals, pets, babies etc. ..........I hate the bad language and nasty comments................I hate being put on guilt trips (I feel guilty enough just having a home, income, car and loving family...................I could go on but I don't think the world has become a nicer place since the advent of social media. Those I love can contact me, and me them, exchange photos and news etc. Unfortunately because I live alone it is very easy for me to be drawn in to chats and I find I am doing it too much even on here. I see you have gone over all my recent comments so I guess you are easily drawn in too??!?!
lynnibis You can just make social media accounts for entering competitions. You don't have to add friends/family or upload anything.
After you've entered the competition just logout or deactivate the accounts temporarily. When you're ready to enter more competitions just login again to reactivate.
I'm giving you a practical solution to not being able to enter social media only competitions.
Social media is only as much invasion of your privacy as to how much you actually share on such platforms. If you're not uploading photos or sharing every single detail of your life daily, how is it an invasion of privacy?
deepcore i understand what you are saying and if I were that bothered about fb comps I would take your advice. I don't know, I just seem to have developed a hatred of it and so I don't see the point of dipping my toe. My two sons (in their 40s), their wives and children do not 'do' fb and unless it significantly added to my enjoyment of life (which it didn't) I will steer clear.
